Couldn't be helped, without any 3rd party support I'd say they did a fine job on the numbers of games released.

They did horribly and even admitted as much and admitted they were having a hard time developing HD games -   Despite knowing this, despite not anouncing the huge delays  until after launch sales slowed down after the holidays, they still did nothing to defend their owne console, they did nothing to keep or attract 3rd parties to develop and release games on their console at a time they admitted they could not service it themselves-

The market reception and continued horrible hardware (and even worse overall software ) sales are solid evidence they did a terrible job re games-

If they had done a good job then and or done a good job later they woud not be sitting on the worse Nintendo (sales wise) home console outside hte virtual boy and already openly discussing the replacement

Never said they did great or anything, just that the output of games they released was fine and probably their maximum capacity. The Wii U should be used as a"what to do and not do" with the NX when it comes to marketing and third party communication.

I'm really starting to think that the NX might not be significantly more powerful than the Wii U.
I think you would have to be pretty in denial to not see that the first party development for the 3DS and the Wii U is starting to slow down, evidently in preparation for the NX.
If the architecture of the NX is not significantly different from the Wii U, and the power differential isn't that great, then assets can be reused from the Wii U to the NX, allowing first party games to be made cheaper and more quickly.
Just my speculation.

lol Wii U has nine titles releasing in the next nine months. IF there are few games after smt x fire emblem, then we can say it's slowing down. untill then, you're just another whiner.

I've said this many times before in other threads, but Wii U will very likely get many games that we have not even heard of yet, throughout 2016 and even into 2017. I still do not believe "NX" or whatever their next console is, will release in 2016, if nothing else because HD games take longer to make, and Nintendo, moreso than most developers, likes to take their time making games in the first place. They are going to want to have games ready for the next system, and to have a "Killer Ap" title, as Reggie said. They obviously had hoped that Nintendo Land, in part, would be that, like Wii Sports before. The problem was, Wii Sports was simple and had a very easy to pick up and play appeal. Nintendo Land did not. It had some cool concepts, but the execution on many were not quite what they should have been.

I still don't consider Wii U a "failure" yet, but it certainly is far from the success it could have been if they had:

1. Advertise the damn thing better.

2. Managed their own development better. The droughts the system has had were caused in part by them focusing too much on 3DS development, and "misjudging" how long it would take them to really get rolling with HD development.

But Wii U isn't done yet. And if Zelda winds up being anything close to what it potentially COULD be, then I think that alone will help. I think that alone could help spur sales, because quite frankly, outside of maybe Mario Kart 8, there has not been one sole Wii U title that was an absolute MUST HAVE for many who might still be on the fence about the console. IF Zelda could just be this massive world to explore, embodying the best elements of the series, from the very first NES game on up, I do think that could be a "seller" for many folks.

But regardless, the point is, while Nintendo certainly is going to focus on trying to have their next system be a bigger success, I also find no reason to believe they won't do what they said, and "try to satisfy those who have bought Wii U".

Yes, most of your thoughts are 100% correct.

I don't believe anything Nintendo says. They said E3 is for showing games coming out in the next 6 to 9 months... Funny that Xenoblade and Yoshi and Mario maker were all at last years E3 and Devils Third is missing. They betrayed me.

all but 2 of those games were delayed by 4, 6, 10/12 months AFTER LAUNCH  so Nintendo Land (tech demo+/-  and NSMBU no rela dif than the Wii version before it   Lego City was great but no local multuplayer (also delayed) Game Wario a mini/mini game that was mediocre andm ost people did not buy , Super LUIGI (NSMBU DLC)  Zelda dn Mario 3D World came out about 1 year after release as did Pimin (also delayed-  so it was VERY barren the 1st year then we had the holiday games you mentioned then DKTF to last  for about 6+ months-

Its NINTENDO S CONSOLE!  It is THEIR responsibilty, ther BUSINESS to make sure they ahve games for their console-  If they cca t provide enough games and timely games on thier own, they they need to do what it takes to get enough 3rd party suport or they will continue having console disaters lke the Wii U and wll contiue losing market share, money and loyal fans  like the have been the last several years

3Rd parties are not obilgated to treat Nintendo like a charity-

After launch Wii U very fast starting to sell bad, to prevent that somehow Nintendo had legendary Nintendo Direct in january 2013. when they announced first time Yoshi Wooly World, Zelda U, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade X. If you closer look, Yoshi few days ago is realesed only in PAL region for now, and Xenoblade X in Japan.

We will certainly will have some new announcement Wii U games.

There are so many things that can be said, and so few of them are positive.

I only see positive things, i hope iwata is a man of his word, if he is , we will be satisfied

all you have to do is look at a variety of statements he has made at Investor meetings and otherwise to see he is most def NOT a man of his word-

Although Iwata is more sophisticated than Reggie-  they ahve about the same "truthfulness" track record

They dropped the Wii 2+ years before release for the Wii U (w no warning word etc and the Wii had 100 mil userbase-   so i can t imagine they will support a userbase of under 10 mill on a console they are losing money on better than they dod the Wii (and they were also making money on the Wii hardware- something they are not doing so faron the Wii u (unless there is an update from Nitendo saying otherwise that i have not seen yet)

The Wii was released 2006 and ended 2012 before the release of the Wii U, 6 year life cycle is what everyone in the 7th gen had

but they barely released any games for the wii u the last 2 years  and they barely released any games for the Wii U the 1 st year

-Nintendo Land, NSMBU, W101, Lego City Undercover, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, New Super Luigi U, Zelda WW HD, Mario 3D World, Wii Party U, Wii Sports Club.

You wrote "they barely released any games for the Wii U the 1 st year", that's clearly not true.

It is true-  Nov 20+/- 2012 thru Nov 20+/- 2013      Plus 3rd party support dried up soon after launch which means they should have been prepared to release far more games than they would otehrwise-  instead they released far fewer

Yes, 1st year was not good, but again you cant say "they barely released any games for the Wii U the 1 st year" because obvious it's not true.
