Yeah, by the same logic, if you want FF VII, play FF VII.

FFVIIR won't be FFVII. It will be FFVIIR.

It seems what a lot of people want from this remake is a better coating and nothing else changed. But you guys should get over it already. Nomura already stated that this isn't the approach they are taking for this remake. For all we know, the new battle system might be better than the original. We don't know yet...

I do. It's great. I'd love a game where it's pretty much exactly the same just with modern graphics. Wouldn't you? Oh, apparently not.

Isn't that the point of a remake? to have the game we love remade to modern standards? If they chop and change it, then it's not the game we love.

I take an open approach to these kinds of things.

I do, with each new iteration of a game franchise, that's what they are for. This isn't a new iteration in the franchise. It's meant to be a remake of the 7th.

Hmm, pie.

Yes. A remake. Not a remaster.

A remake, not a REIMAGINING!

Remaster is the thing coming out on PS4 in October, Remake is meant to be remaking the game. Seems people don't know the difference between the 3.

Do you want to play the definition game?

remake

verb re·make (ˌ)rē-ˈmāk

: to make a new or different version of (something, such as a movie, song, etc.)

: to make (something) into something else

noun
 re·make ˈrē-ˌmāk

: a new or different version of a movie, song, etc.

In remakes, some things are changed, altered, cut, added, etc...

You want the same exact game with better graphics and nothing else. So I will suggest you try looking for tutorials online explaining how to mod the PC verison (look into Tifa's Bootleg). That should provide you with what you are looking for.

I certainly don't want "FFVII - FFXV edition", like all you lot seem to want. I don't see what is so hard to get that I want a really nice 3D Third person perspective world to walk around but (random) combat in a self contained arena with the ATB like FF7. FF7 was great because of it's gameplay as well as it's story, people want to take that out? They want to remove what is an essential part of FF7.

That's like taking SF and removing the way the fighting works, replacing it with Tekken style moves instead or changing Mario to be a first person platformer. They are still fighting games and platformers right? Won't ruin the games at all changing the very gameplay they are based on.

@Bolded: I don't remember ever telling you want I wanted, specifically. I said I keep an open mind about this remake.

You don't know how the game will end up like. Even if they change the battle system, you don't yet know how much it will be changed. All we know is that Nomura doesn't want to recreate the "jump in, attack, get back in line" aspect fo the original since he wants to take a more realistic approach. Other than that, every possibilities are up in the air. It could very well end up being an updated/modernized version of their famous ATB system. Who knows.

Okay, sorry.  FF7 comabt was never that, there was no line as there was a timer, you couldn't just sit there and do nothing else the enemy would have go and got and kill you. The ATB is far more complex that it seems to be given credit for.

And yes, who knows. But my faith in SquEnix ability to not mess it up isn't high right now.

Lol, what?

What are you on about. On one side, you have your 3 party members, next to each other, on a line. On the other side, you have your enemies, also alligned in some fashion. One character's turn come, he jumps in, attack the enemy, and jumps back to that line. Next character's turn, jumps in, attack, goes back to the line, rince and repeat for every characters and monsters taking part in the battle...

That is what Nomura doesn't want to recreate for the remake.

My mistake, though you meant like a queue (a line), even then FF7 didn't even have lines, it had distance, sure it was represented as a line but you could place a character on the 'back line' meaning the damage they do is reduced but they take less damage too. Yet you could counter that by adding a materia to a weapon or with character with certain weapons like guns. Cloud with Long Range materia, Barrett and Vincent all on the back line made the game unique.

Shame to loose all that, wouldn't you think?

BTW, Reno was so cool in that. Placing a shield over your characters which you had to remove by hitting it else that character didn't get a go? Hard to know how they'd translate that well in modern games unless they don't change the combat.

Hmm, pie.
