Now, I'll go on record now and say while I, like most of you, were disappointed with the Digital Event, it wasn't terrible though. We still got plenty of great games to look forward to, it's just that they're games that we already know about and we were going to buy anyways, like Yoshi, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, etc.
Nintendo stated earlier that for this year's E3, they were aiming to showcase games that they were planning to release in the immediate future, which were games that will be coming out in 2015, up to Q1 2016. And I believe there may be a reason for that.

So this is what I predict. The Legend of Zelda for Wii U, will release next year, for the Zelda series' 30th anniversary, and that will be the Wii U's swan song, much like Skyward Sword was the Wii's swan song on the series' 25th anniversary. BUT, aside from Zelda Wii U, 2016 will be a dry year for Wii U, much like 2013 was, with a few more niche titles here and there to go along with SMTxFE and Project Treasure. And 2017 will be much like 2012 was for the Wii.
And due to Wii U's poor sales figures, we will not see any of Nintendo's heavy hitters like a new 3D Mario game, a mainline console Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime 4 (or a mainline Metroid period), a console Paper Mario game or any other main Nintendo games until the launch of NX, to ensure the NX has strong launch lineup right off the bat.

So yeah, all of Nintendo's main console projects besides Zelda Wii U, have or will be shifted to NX.

And personally... I have no problem with that, because of 2 reasons
1. I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth with the Wii U with all the great games that are already on it (NSMB.U, Pikmin 3, WWHD, 3D World, DKC: Tropical Freeze, Nintendo Land, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 1 & 2, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Captain Toad, Kirby, Splatoon) plus even more great games that are on the way (Yoshi, Xenoblade, Star Fox, Super Mario Maker, Zelda Wii U, SMTxFE). The Wii U has already built a good enough library, gaming wise to where it can be considered good.
2. If the NX is going to match the PS4 and Xbox One in terms of power, like some have speculated, than it NEEDS a strong launch in order to help it take off (the reason I say help it take off, is because there are other factors like, price, storage, and concept as stated earlier), because at that point, the 2 latter systems will have had 3-4 years on the market with great libraries built up to the point where they will have their peak years. So if the NX comes in with a launch similar to 3DS or Wii U, than it's going to die a horrible death, even worse than the Wii U. And I don't think anyone wants that, so it NEEDS to come out strong, all guns blazing.

Those are my thoughts on the matter of the transition from Wii U to NX. Care to give your 2 cents on the matter? Drop a comment, though I ask, please be respectful.

That would be dissapointing. A Nintendo console without Paper Mario, Animal Crossing. But those as early NX titles rather than late Wii U titles would probably be better in terms of sales.

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!

Yep. And not just for those games, but for the NX itself compared to the Wii U when it launched. Though I can also understand the disappointment that would come with it.

Who cares about Paper Mario and proper Animal Crossing when the console doesn't have a Metroid Game?  Even Wii had two of them!

Haven't played Metroid, don't know what I am missing.

I think the Paper Mario and Animal Crossing fanbases would care greatly.

I can see the NX coming out strong, all signs point to it but at the same time I just can't get my hopes up.

So if NX turns out to be less powerful than PS4 and XBO, than that WON'T make matters worse? As much as we'd like for graphics not to be an important factor, it is. That's just the gaming world that we live in. The first question people will ask when a new console is revealed with a launch library is almost always, "How are the graphics?" Rather than, "How does the game play?" Just the way it is, sadly.

Also, part of the reason why third party games were so low for the Wii U, was because on top of being technically and graphically inferior to its competitors, had a gimmick that most third party companies didn't want to develop for because it drove up development costs big time, if there was no GamePad, and the main controller was the Pro Controller, we would've seen a lot more third parties games with effort put into them. Even if those ports were coming from PS4 and Xbox One, because even though the Wii U is graphically inferior, it's not THAT graphically inferior compared to the Wii vs the PS3 or 360.
This is why I also mentioned the concept that Nintendo is planning with NX to also be a key variable to how well the system does whenever it launches.

Ok, I will agree with you that it really can't get worse in the power department.

But as for the GamePad, don't forget, also the Off-TV play for the GamePad that was supposed to be one of the Wii U's main selling points, as well as the GamePad's gyro scensors for its Gyro controls, both of those things take up some money, and if they ignore it, than we come out and accuse the developers of not taking advantage of the GamePad's full potential, (much like Nintendo doesn't most of the time), which is another thing, if Nintendo themselves aren't willing to put much effort into their own gimmick, why should 3rd party developers care than? And why doesn't Nintendo do that, it's because they know better than anyone how much it would cost, that's why they just settle with Off-TV play most of the time and leave it at that. Aside, from Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, WWHD, and potentially Zelda Wii U, there really aren't many other games that will take advantage of the possibilities the GamePad brings to the table.

The NX doesn't just need a strong lineup of great quality, heavy hitting Nintendo games, to attract their main fanbase off the bat, they also need their initial lineup to be supported with a reasonable quantity of 3rd party games to attract other potential buyers who are on the fence about it. They need to get back to where they were with the SNES, a strong lineup of high quality 1st party games, backed up by a good quantity of good, or decent third party games.
Those are a few factors that could help it come out strong.
