5 different games

What a crazy thing that Uncharted games looks like... Uncharted and Mario games like .... Mario. Mindblowing.

You ... do realize that the point I was making was that they were re-using the same style across different kinds of games in different series?  Which is why I didn't show images from sequels?

Do you realize that they are all MARIO games and Mario has ONE aesthetic?

It happens the same with the vast majority of Ips. And still if you compare Mario along the time, you see huge changes on the artstyle , bigger that you will never see on Ips like Uncharted, where the main game remains with the same looks, and you can´t see nothing close to the differences between games like Sunshine, Galaxy and 3Dworld.

He has a point, generally speaking.

he was discussing Star Fox though, surely you do not expect a game about an animal Star Fleet protecting civilans of the galaxy will be in real-to-life graphics do you ? even if it were possible it would be an odd decision, not to mention the series never aimed to look realistic

I do hear what he is saying, a lot of companies are going for specs specs specs and obsessing over graphics rather than having fun with art styles and cool imagery. I mean how many 'Tomb Raider' looking games do we have?

What exactly does "real-to-life" graphics mean to you?  Does Crysis fall under that?  If so, how is it able to have fantastical elements and still be "real-to-life", and why can't Star Fox?

Honestly, Miyamoto's quote is pretty irrelevent to the actual criticisms of Star Fox's graphics.  Improving textures, lighting, models, etc won't somehow remove the art style from the game and make it look like FIFA.

No way, I completely disagree. I can look at any building in AC Unity and know it's Unity. I can look at the floor in Witcher 3 and know it's a Witcher game. I can look at the roof a building and know it's an Uncharted game. Look at puddles in the ground and know it's Infamous Second Son, look in the cockpit view of a car and know if it's Driveclub or Project cars (no HUD of course).

Games strive for reaslistic visuals but they all have different art directors, they all have they're own flavour and touch that makes it look and feel different. No one i would ever confuse a street in Watch Dogs for a street in GTA V.

Rant over.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I'm sure you understand what I'm saying, even if you play ignorant.  Super Mario Bros. is a platformer, Mario Kart is a racing game, and Mario Tennis is a sports game.  Do you understand?  This isn't hard.  If they made a Metroid type game and reskinned it Mario, would you still call it a "Mario game" above all else and ignore that it is an entirely different genre?

Well, you probably would, but most of the world would not.

As far as Galaxy and 3Dworld being so different in style ... yeah, okay, no.  Not that I mind, of course, because I've already explained to you that I'm talking about different kinds of games.

All I can say is I watched E3, and this didnt seem like a issue at all.
So many differnt games, with differnt art styles and gameplay.

Miyamoto is talking smack (on the competition)... right after the E3 nintendo had.

Dispite alot of people are dissapointed in starfox's graphics, hes talking down on the competitions graphics in games.

Maybe he should make a realistic game and show us how it should be done then.

Until then he should worry about his own obvious issues.

if you're implying that it is difficult to make a 'realistic' looking game or that Nintendo is incapable of that then you're being rather naive. practically every decent sized developer out right now is going with life-like graphics and not struggling to do so whatsoever. its the easy route because it doesn't take much thought in terms of art

Others didn't had problems releasing games in HD or for the 8th gen, but Nintendo had. So your point? Untill Nintendo releases a game with really top graphics or realistic it is without evidence that they can.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

It's a point Miyamoto has made before, and to an extent it is valid, but I question the timing of him saying this as comes off as sour grapes and him not even understanding the criticism that's being levied at star fox zero. The issue has nothing at all to do with the art direction whatsoever, it's with the quality of the execution which leaves much to be desired right now.
