Forums - Microsoft - Another departure from Remedy: is Quantum Break development at risk?

After the departure of the veteran Oskari Hakkinen from Remedy (http://venturebeat.com/2015/05/26/remedy-veteran-starts-new-finnish-game-startup/), today another game developer has left the team behind Max Payne and Alan Wake, Matias Myllyrinne (http://remedygames.com/a-late-goodbye/).

Because of the departure of these two prominent game designers right in the middle of Quantum Break development it seems to me that everything isn't going according to the plans. We already know that Microsoft shut down his entertainment studios, the same studios that had to produce the tv series of Quantum break, so I have very little hope to see this peculiarity of the game.

My opinion is that we won't see Quantum Break at this E3 and that the development time will be long, I mean like Alan Wake long. I can't see this game coming out before 2017 if I have to take a guess.

What do you think about it? Please share your thoughts.

Wait what? So QB won't have TV shows now? This is new to me.

Nah I guess we will se QB with another gameplay and hopefully a release date.

Seriously, what is going on with MS's first and second party projects?

Seems worrying for the project. It looked pretty good at Gamescom, but it does appear it may possibly be running into some difficulty.

So this will probably mean there's another delay?

The GamesCom presentation was very poor in my oponion.  It was boring.  Kinda like playing connect the dots with matrix like slow down.  There was honestly nothing there.  It looked okay.  Nice set pieces, but other than that, there is nothing.  And I was very hopeful for this game so I am really hoping that they show something new at E3

Didn't microsoft already say the delay was down to their holiday software scheduling?

If theres any truth to that then I wouldn't exactly describe this period has right in the middle of the games developement. Guess we will just have to wait til E3

They said the same thing last year: "we are pushing games to 2015 because there are too many on holiday". We all know how many games they released until now.

After all, if you think about it, we didn't see anything about the tv show and they showed just one gameplay trailer 10 months ago.

I doubt a guy that high up has much day to day operational work with a game as far along as QB. Plus IIRC he said the studio had planned for these departures months in advance.

"Myllyrinne assured us that work on Quantum Break will be unaffected, and in fact, the delay into 2016 was more about release timing and market strategy than a problem with the project."

I think it's because MS bought Remedy with an annoncement at Gamescom ! ;)
