Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can we PLEASE try refrain from saying "gamers won" this time around? (E3 related)

Every E3, year after year, I see the same response when the inevitable question is asked.. "who won e3?"

and of course, without fail, somebody thinks they're clever and reply with, "gamers won /thread"

We all know that this kind of response doesn't answer the question or provide any meaningful insight whatsoever. You can have your opinions about E3 and whether or not it is a contest, but the simple fact of the matter is that companies are vying for our attention.

When deciding who won E3, you can think of it in a couple ways:

1. Did anybody make your jaw drop? Who dropped the biggest bombs?

2. Who had the most compelling software? (quantity and quality)

3. Which company made you feel like a kid on Christmas morning?

It seems every year, there are more and more people who have this idea that its cute or funny to say, "gamers won" but really, it's a useless statement that is usually accompanied by an aura of superiority.

So what do you say, guys?

Agreed its annoying.

no, you didnt fucking win, you didnt do shit and you gonna troll like half of the games announced anyways.

When they announce the last guardian being cancelled or its a no show... Gamers will lose

Can we please realize that "winning" E3 is something that is entirely meaningless outside of gaming forums? The only year it had any kind of effect was 2013 and that was more because of everything leading up to the event.

Last year for example a lot of people said Nintendo won and nothing changed whatsoever in the big picture for them, even though some people seriously thought it would.

Well, gamers will not win this time. Sony will win. They win everything out of pure hype and without games.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It's the only logical answer that can be applied to everyone.

Let's say that nintendo gives you the game that makes your jaw drop, the most amount of games that you wanted to see announced, they are the ones who made you feel like a kid on Christmas morning... They can't do any of that for me. At least not with their first party.

We all will be inclined to say the one who won is the one that showed us the things we like (I have a feeling for me it might be Square Enix this year, or Sony as usual if they have enough japanese third parties on stage)

Those 3 items you listed will always be subjective, there is no objective way to judge the show unless you evaluate from a technical, performance point of view (who had the better stage, lighting, less technical problems) and then you cant even evaluate the entertaining aspect cause it's still subjective to fanbase appeal.

It would be like evaluating someone's game library based on your own tastes... doenst work that way.
