Just imagine the jokes about resolution.

It's just very awkward to talk about the Xbox (the original), because Xbox One is always the name me and my friends gave it.

I like the Xbox One better than the Xbox 720.  The 360 did a couple things - highlighted the tripple core archetecture - which was really inovative.  Put it on equal number footing with a competitor.

Maybe the next one will be Xbox Evolution.

720 sounded logical at the time, but it could have signified spinning in circles, and in today's environment could have been bad PR due to all the resolution controversies.

One turned out to be a better choice, but only because MS put a good effort to explain it and market it. At first, it could have caused confusion for people thinking it refers to the first XBox, luckily Microsoft explained it well (especially in the aftermath of the WiiU naming confusion).

Had Win10 been released earlier, XBox 10 would have been a perfect name.

Both are pretty bad. It should be called Xbox U, that would be very smart.

If I have to choose.... I stick with One, 720 would be very stupid when they were trying to sell 1080p.

Xbox One sounds better.

Any name if the console is well conceived, and XBone was not well conceived. So it doesn't matter. Better for MS they release a better console next time if they want to compete with Sony.
