I'm not sure the full story on it. Maybe Hiska knows better than I. But it's why you often see rapidly bomba-binned titles in Japan when they overshipped, because its the only way for retailers to get rid of their copies. Compared to in the west, I think retailers are able to return copies to publishers should they remain unsold.

That's true, but I find it unlikely that retailers expected this game to sell more than 20k units for its initial shipment.

That would be my expectation as well. We should find out next week if it stays in the top 30, which is likely considering how poorly everything else has done.
