People have been forecasting Metroid at E3 every year since 2012.

Yes, but last year Nintendo acknowledged that they planning new Metroid games.

Except that, Metroid was on two previous consoles and gamepad is perfect for Metroid game. I say that are pretty good chances to see Metroid at E3.

Metroid has a hint since 2013, so no. Nothing points to a Metroid game this E3 and even less when Retro choose to do DK rather than Metroid.

Well, they do at least have Zelda for 2016, which is the only game on that list confirmed for that year as far as I know.

Aside from that, that's a poor reason. You can't say they won't have anything in 2016 without these games, because you don't know what they have planned for 2016. We didn't know about a lot of 2015 titles until E3 2014.

And honestly, I don't think 2014's first half was THAT much better, if at all.

Zelda is TBD, not 2016.

Doesn't look to me like nothing:

-First link, that was last year after E3, they certainly wont say we are working on Metroid for Wii U in that time.

-Second link was answer to Miyamoto question what games they want for Wii U, and Metroid was on first place by far, that is very obvious indicator to Miyamoto what fans would wanted to see on Wii U.

-For this E3 they said "we have new games that using more gamepad", like I said, Metroid is perfect for gamepad.

-Also, GC had 2 Metroid games, Wii had 2 Metroid games, I cant see Wii U without Metroid game.

-Rare start to work on new game at end of 2013.

-One of the first Wii downloadable games for Wii U was Metroid Trilogy

Of course Zelda is 2016. game, Nintendo always state TBD for games that not planning to release in current year.

The poll was taken from just one website (Kotaku) though, we don't know if Metroid was the most requested game in the channels Nintendo monitored.

Metroid would also be a risky proposition on Wii U, as it would likely be expensive to make but may not sell well due to the small console base.

I'm not saying abandon all hope, but I'd keep my expectations in check.

Almost every Nintendo Wii U game have very good attach rate and there current around or above 1m (if you closer look worst selling Nintendo Wii U games are cheaper and smaller games).

I mentioned multiply reasons why I think we will see Metroid on E3, for me chances are around 70%.

If I had to guess, I'd give it a 20% chance of happening myself.

Around 3 more weeks, then we will see. :)

I'll happily eat crow if I'm wrong, haha. I just can't help feeling a bit of deja vu from the last three E3s...

Well many lists can be made but the fact is that that the last must have game for the wii u was smash and next one would be XCX, which will come out almost a year after.

Its also a fact that Nintendo's droughts are becoming worse, last year I did not feel it because i had just bought the console, but this year i haven't picked up the gamepad at all and will have to wait till XCX to do so.

"Must have" is subjective though, based on an individual's desires. Smash wasn't a must have to me at all, but Captain Toad this January was.

Thats true, my last must have was Bayo2, I meant it more in the manner of popular releases

Nintendo does have a serious supply problem with Wii U, yeah. The first half of every year since 2013 has been barren, and even one major release per month seems unattainable. They fucked up hardcore by underestimating the workload HD development entails and not greatly enlarging their workforce for this gen.

No, the first Metroid hint was at VGA 2013 with the Metroid pin.

And no, Zelda is TBD, not 2016. Show me where Nintendo said Zelda is 2016.
