Star Wars Celebration: Battlefront Does Not Have a Campaign

By Mitch DyerStar Wars: Battlefront will not have a single-player or narrative campaign, DICE revealed to IGN. Rather than a traditional solo outing, Battlefront will rely on a set of short missions which can be played alone, or cooperatively via split-screen or online.

"I would say they occupy that space...where you play alone," General Manager of DICE Patrick Bach said. "Or you can play co-op, split screen or on the internet. The game is first and foremost a multiplayer game. Battlefront was a multiplayer game. That’s the game we wanted to create — to recreate the battles of the Original Trilogy."

This meant a proper campaign was out of the question. So how does co-op work?

The co-op missions are "connected," Bach said, "and they are quite different" from the regular competitive multiplayer. Missions are short, and intended to be replayed on higher difficulties. Producer Craig Mcleod offered more insight, stating, "Because it’s only a two-player experience you’re sharing with a friend, they’re custom built. "It’s not about pulling a section out of somewhere else and you just do them. I can’t go into specifics about what mission we’ll have, but when we think about multiplayer and co-op, what we’re really trying to do is immerse yourself in your Star Wars battle fantasies."

Mcleod promised to talk more about the missions at E3 this June.

Battlefront has had a huge debut at this week's Star Wars Celebration. Now we know you can play as Darth Vader, there's no Jar Jar Binks, and it's releasing in November before getting The Force Awakens-themed DLC for free.

Yeah. It seems so. More games in my avoid list. -_-

I don't understand the difference between missions and a campaign....

there is galactic conquest tho right???

don't tell me they cut galactic conquest.

Just waiting to hear if there is a galactic conquest or not. If there is then who cares if there is a campaign...

A shame too. A story-driven IP like Star Wars deserved a game with a good story campaign.

Got no problem with that. Battlefront is all about epic multiplayer battles anyway. It's not like Dice would have made a good campaign anyway so all energy on MP is good in my book.

Really...They make it sound like if they made a story mode it would go against what the original games were.

I give a flying f*** about a campaign. DICE has never made a particularly good one anyway.

But no space combat is unforgivable. Taking the series backwards instead of giving us an evolution of what Battlefront 2 was. So frustrating
