I would legalize it so that it can be regulated. That would result in safer practices, aid of the authorities, and less people wasting tax dollars by being in jail.

On a related note, I would also do this for Marijuana, mushrooms, and opium, as none of these are "drugs", and really only as harmful (if not less) than tobacco.

I would make it legal, but as others have said I think it should be regulated and there needs to be infrastructure in place to make it safe and healthy.

Personally I think it can be a degrading practice, but I would rather more freedoms than less so long as its safe and healthy.

Some of the things regulating the Porn industry would be the first thing I would look towards for regulating prostitution.

yes but pimping should be illegal and have dead penalty

Of course!

Thank you everyone for your input! Mods can lock this thread now, I gathered what I needed :)

It's the oldest profession.

Legalizing it would bring in tax money.

If you make brothels, then you get rid of pimps who exploit the women.

If I take a woman to dinner, a movie, then a few drinks, and drop $200 in the process all in an effort to get laid, what the hell is the difference between that and just giving a woman $200, get laid, and she can use that money to get food, go to bars, and go to a movie? It cuts out the middle man.

I bet the same people against legal prostitution also hate Tesla

Yes, if they're 18 or older and the client is 16 or older. Pretty much I would enforce the Dutch law.

Of course. It is going to happen either way, and everyone would be happier if it was legal. With legality comes regulations which protect the workers, and tax money which helps keep the country running instead of draining it of resources hunting down pimps.

Yes but with a caveat that it should be a regulated industry. But I would allow private interests to operate for profit rather than a government monopoly.

Too many women are abused when the act is considered criminal.

I don't think anyone wants it to be unregulated.

Yes....when is the government going to figure out that by making victimless acts (prostitution, drugs, etc.) illegal that they're making them dangerous and creating a black market. People are going to do what they want regardless so why not make it legal, regulated, and safe.

In all honesty I want every drug legal and sold in stores. Want to buy a gram of coke, come on up to the drug store and get yourself some. At least you'll know the product will be regulated and safer (safer as in not spiked with poisonous shit), you can make tax dollars, and you could also ID the people and record purchase history of hard drugs to detect the abusers from the casual "just trying it out" people, and encourage them to seek help.

And why in the hell is prostitution illegal anyways? The only difference between prostitution and pornography is a video camera. It's sex between two consenting adults for money....so what? "Oh but what about the moral integrity of society, I don't want my kids seeing this" Well how about we don't put the brothel between the movie theatre and the Wal-mart then....maybe it's downtown by the bars and clubs where kids aren't hanging out anyways. And how about you do your job as a parent.
