Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who still does local multi-player?

Smash, MK8, Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Injustice: Gods among Us, heck even Hyrule Warriors and Nintendoland sometimes. It's one of the reasons why I buy Nintendo Consoles, as they stilll put more emphasis into offline multiplayer than online multi. And they really know how to make them so much fun.

Me and my mates, asado (barbaque), drinks and Fifa all night long!

Alcohol and games are a match made in heaven.

...till someone tries to be a hero and drinks too much, then it sucks.

As a matter of fact, we get to be so competitive, that some of us "cheat" by  pretending they are drinking when they actually aren't.

Online multilplayer needs to take a step back a return the throne to the true king; Local.

Online is vastly superior to local to me lol. I do not mind local but to say "local" is superior is baloney. To YOU is is better but you can do a lot of things in online that is impossible (or a reduced experience) in local MP

Every once in a while me and the GF play local coop in LBP but 95% of the time we play online on our 2 PS3/4s and our 2 tvs in the same room because its better if each has their own screen

But you can't punch your friends in the face when they steal a star from you in Mario Party when playing online, that shit gets intense and can't be replicated by an Online mode, plus, Local needs more of a presence these days, gaming companies are leaving it behind, it's quite sad.

I'm now filled with determination.

Me, mainly Mario Kart and Smash Bros

That's still local.

Kinda, but technically that is not local. It doesn't have the terrible drawbacks of local and would be impossible without networking of some sort

There's really no difference playing CS, Starcraft etc with friends via a local area network or through the internet, but in both cases in the same room together. You're still playing with eachother locally. I see the same situation with LAN console gaming and local online console gaming.

Technically playing over the internet in the same room is not local. LAN is local and Split-Screen is local.
