Forums - Sales Discussion - Fact: The Wii U will sell more than the GameCube (im back and its still a fact)

I love my Wii U. Almost everyone I know who I have shared it with is vastly surprised and it has led to a couple sales. My brother constantly begs me for mine. Its something I never expected to hear from him. He doesn't even care for the next gen stuff but he can't get enough of the old Wii U.

Having said that I don't think its going to beat the GCN. GCN was in a era where gaming media was less prominent. You can't go anywhere after launch and not hear Wii U doomed from 99% of gaming sites. Stuff like that and social media kinda fed into a anti Nintendo campaign that continues to this day. Back then I bought a GCN and almost every peripheral because the games were great and that was all that mattered. If that era was today I would have been bombarded with people telling me that it is weak and worthless and that Nintendo is Doomed. In todays era the GCN probably wouldn't have cracked 10m lifetime in sales.

It depends on why the PS4 would be filing in that scenario. If it's because SONY's exclusive end up underwhelming like The Order 1886 did then yes, Xbox ONE would profit way more than the Wii U. If however it's cause is the multiplats who continue to underwhelm or simply not meet the hype like Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed Unity did, then both the Xbox and the Playstation would be equally hurt by it and the Wii U would become the main benefactor.

I do agree however that a price of 129$ is ludicrous, I don't see it ever going below 199$, and that's not just due to the gamepad.

But see that means that all multiplats AND exclusives would have to underwhelm for the Wii U to be the main benefactor. And while it is possible the chances are slim to none of all that happening though. But yeah his points just didn't fit for me they seemed to be more of like hopes and dreams which is why I replied lol.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

No chance. Smash did nothing for sales. Zelda may attract an extra 50k ww sales for the launch week max.
Gamecube was a gift from the Gods, it shall not be outsold by the WiiU.

That's the thing about Wii U. It has its awesome side that is appealing to pretty much everyone, that everyone enjoys and that the competition can't match. But at the same time... Nintendo... Why, oh why did you have to f*ck up in oh so many obvious aspects!? And they've been doing this for generations now. N64, GCN and Wii U feel almost sabotaged. Why can't Nintendo just once give us a fundamentally sound console with all Nintendo magic on top of it?

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

We will see what happens after price cuts, but with few games let alone system sellers releasing in the future and the economy being weaker worldwide compared to the GC years i think it's unlikely.
