Forums - Gaming Discussion - Would you pay $1000 for a 100 hour game?

How about 60$ for Halo 3 when you do not have xbox live. Essentially the same thing, can beat the game in 3-5 hours. Include Xbox live, another 60$ tacked on eh.

I personally will not buy The Order 1886, but it does not mean that people that buy it are in the wrong.

your example is bad and you should feel bad.halo 3 was an early 7th gen game. unlless youve played the game a billion times and are used to the levels, they'res  no way youre finishing it in 5 hours on normal.  About 10 hours is expected for halo 3 campaign if youre not playing heroic or legendary difficulty. Also, halo 3 is a classic while this is a mediocore game. the 60$ for xbl can be applied to any game, and with it you can easily get 30+ hours from the game. I say 30+ but i know a lot of people with 100+ hours.

I get what you are trying to say, but a better question would be "Would you pay $120 for a 100 hour game?"

That's not really a fair comparison. 60$ for a 6 hour game is not the same as paying 1000$ for a 100 hour game.

Yes, yes and yes. A six hour game can very well turn into a 30-100 hour game if you fall in love with it. I haven't yet played the game, but games like that, linear, cinematic, usually hold a lot of replay value with me. It's games with unnecessary padding that turn me off.
I never felt ripped off with Heart of Darkness 17 years ago for instance, even though I had few money for games back then and it's like an hour long.

Nah, I played Halo 2 extensively. And I easily beat Halo 3 in one night, did not have xbox live at the time. Thus 5-8 hours I shall say for Halo 3 and some say 9 hours for The Order 1886. Halo 3 was still worth it to me as The Order 1886 can be for others.

I agree with that, i just dont think halo 3 should be considered a game lacking content lol.

No. But the problem isn't the length...

I'd pay $30 for a 2 hour game. but not $3000 for a 200 hour game. Why? Because that's a fuck ton of money.

I paid zero, and have 64,968 hours in a game. So, clearly, you're all doing it wrong. (Although, full disclosure, I did voluntarily donate $400 to it).

Sorry but I find this EXTREMELY hard to believe, since 64,968 hours is equal to 2,707 days, which again is equal to roughly seven and a half years of gametime, which I personally see as complete and utter bullshit, unless you can actually prove it to me... although these days it's way too easy to use an image editing program and change things, my brother tried to kid his friend that he'd spent over 10,000 hours on World of Warcraft when his playtime was in fact only around 300 hours... yet after he'd edited it in photoshop it looked like a completely legit screenshot, and he's only 12, so it can't be too hard to do.

It's a mud that's been in operation since 1991 (that I've played since 1991).  It's text-based, and since it requires next to nothing in system resources, I've simply left the application open and logged in for...well, quite some time now.  I met a ridiculous amount of people on that game back when it was actually active...120-150 a day during peak hours, so the nostalgia factor rocks, and the off-chance some random old face stops in, it's cool to catch up and see where everyone is in life.

And if I replay the game on at least an annual basis because I enjoy the journey? Then I'm getting infinity hours out of it. Besides I buy blurays of 2 hour movies (in collections) for $20 each. So basically you can't extrapolate and say it's the same. Quality over quantity.
