Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think we'll see another Wii U sports game again?

I would sooo buy a Fifa or PES for WiiU, but I guess people who like sports games are a small minority in the already little WiiU user base... I can see why EA rather keeps on making easy money by releasing half-baked Wii versions than bother making a worthy port for WiiU. A funding by Nintendo might help, but I can't imagine them ever doing anything like that.

Mario Strikers is my one hope...

Fifa 13 is available.  I think that a new game every year isn't necessary.  Perhaps Nintendo feels that way too.

Sports games have taken a complete nose dive over the last decade imo. I mean, between 2000 and 2004. We had what, three NFL games? Two NCAA football games? Three or four MLB games. Two soccer games. At least three NBA games and that's not counting the arcade titles like NBA Jam and NBA Street.

Then, we had all the extreme sports titles like Tony Hawk, SSX, Shawn Palmer, Cool Boarders, Dave Mirra, Matt Hoffman... hell, we even had a pro surfer game haha.

Now, what do we have? One NFL game. One MLB game. One NBA game and one game that's just... shouldn't even be made. Two soccer games and.... that's it?

I use to love sports games during the PS2 era but, with the exception of MLB The Show and NBA 2K, american sports games suck now. So really, not having anything on Wii-U doesn't bother me all that much. If it were like 2000-2004 again, and we were getting nothing on that system, then all hell would break lose. But as of right now, meh.

You mean like NFL, FIFA, NBA, games?

Nope.

You might get a Mario Sports Mix U at best.

Your brother is going to have to buy a PS3/X360 or X1/PS4 if he wants those types of games.

Sadly the answer is a resounding and emphatic no...not a licensed sport sim anyway. Madden 13, NBA 2K13, and FIFA 13 are going to be all you will see.

Unless nintendo pays I doubt it

I know it sounds wrong, but I kinda wish Nintendo would consider funding some 3rd party games. I mean like ports like how Sony is publishing Revelations 2 for Vita. Nintendo should consider doing that with 3rd party games. I think they should create a whole team to port games to Wii U. After Nintendo makes a deal with the publisher of the original IP of course.

They certainly have the money to do it.  I think they favour more profitability over funding like that though.

I know, but as far as I can tell from the screenshots I have seen it is rather a Wii Fifa 13 than a PS3/X360 Fifa 13. Thus a Fifa 12 with 2013 player data. No thanks.

In the short term the team would be for Wii U, but it would also work for whatever future console Nintendo makes. I'm of the mindset that Nintendo needs to function as though they will never get 3rd party support again. A team like this would be a way to combat the worst case scenario of them never getting 3rd party support.

I need a new Mario golf game. E3, please make me happy.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

No, have Mario sports. At least Mario basketball magic NBA edition.
