This obviously does not include digital sales.

Do you think the series can hit 100 million early into the next generation of consoles?

Do you think the mainline series will ever hit 100 million?

Combined Zelda game sales (in millions):

1. Ocarina of Time (N64, 3DS): 11.51
2. Twilight Princess (Wii, NGC): 8.82

Hope for next generation... maybe by 2025?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

imo 3 million is too low.

It is already at +1M in just 2 week, so... i think that is POSSIBLE 5,000,000 lifetime.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

soon... very soon.

Probably next generation.

Quite soon if they keep porting their classics to other platforms.

You are forgetting the CD-i games XD.

It's really weird the series hasn't reached the 100m milestone, specially when Mario Kart, Pokemon and the Wii series reached it before Zelda.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

For the mainline series 8 more games at least.

Including spin offs maybe one game less at best.

The series on generations are as follows (mainline series):

NES: 2
SNES/GB: 3
N64/ GBC: 4
GCN/GBA: 6
Wii/DS: 4
Wii U/3DS: 4 and counting - at least one more?

Thats 3.83 games per gen. Round that up to 4 and we have a 2 generation wait.

Minus a game for the new Wii U one and take away one more game for spin off tat and that leaves a 6 game wait.

My guess would be mid to late 9th gen which will be 2025ish.

If 3 million per mainline game is the new normal than it would take 8 more games. I hope it doesn't take that long. With Majora's Mask 3D's strong release week, and the fact that 3 other games are still on the market selling, plus unaccounted digital sales, I don't think it would take 8 more (including spinoffs, unless they release a lot more spinoffs for Wii U)

Probably won't be in a while sadly.

The series deserves a 10m seller, but Ocarina couldn't do it, and Twilight Princess especially couldn't do it. Counting single SKU's at least. Zelda U highly likely isn't going to do it either (that would be impressive) so with an average of 5m for the big games and 3m for the secondary games, it's going to take at least until the end of the next generation, probably even into the 10th. The spin-offs aren't going to speed up the process much, seeing as it's doubtful we'll see another Crossbow Training-like hit anytime soon.
