Forums - Gaming Discussion - So how's your portable gaming life? - Mobile fans welcomed too

3DS has been my most played gaming device for the past 3-4 years. It's really struck all the right chords with me. Tales, Fire Emblem, and Zelda are three of my favorite franchises, so those all hooked me early on. Since then, I've been reintroduced to old games (Animal Crossing, Pokemon) I used to like or completely new series for me (SMT, Monster Hunter). Digital and Retail combined, I have over 50 games on it, which is pretty unusual considering my limited gaming time. It really is a great system with a wide variety of games.

I've been considering a Vita for some RPGs that look interesting, but the more time passes, the less likely it seems I'll be getting one. I already have a hefty backlog of JRPGs on the PS3, and my handheld fix is being satisfied pretty well on the 3DS. I honestly don't really get the itch very often for handheld-specific RPGs, which is likely the main reason I would buy one, so having one or the other suits me just fine.

I also have an iPhone, but my gaming on that is limited to the occasional rhythm game when I'm waiting for something.

I've had my 3ds since late 2011, and haven't looked back since. Rather, I picked up a second, XL version of it in late 2013. I've spent more time gaming on them than any other system since I first got one in 2011. Even factoring in smartphones, which I don't play on much at all, I've spent at least 4x as much time playing on the 3ds as anything else (Xbox, Phone, Tablet, etc.).

So yeah, portable gaming is pretty much the only gaming I do now. I probably won't go back to console gaming for a while now.

Looking forward to the new Fire Emblem, since I spent so much time playing, and loving awakening (Cordelia FTW)

PS: You lucky S.O.B! Congrats though, you struck gold with that new 3ds.

My Galaxy Note 3 gives me all the FF pleasure I want to and from my way to work. When I'm finished with FF Dimensions I'm gonna replay FFV and then play all the DQ games :)

I do own a Vita which I don't use and I'm thinking about getting a N3DS which I won't use after a few times.

Haha, I said the samething when I first got my 3ds. I was only getting it for Ocarina of time, figring I'd only play that and maybe a few others. Be warned, your wallet will be in danger if you get one lol.

BTW, how do those FF games run on the Note 3? Are you using an emulator or are they just standalone games from the playstore? I was thinking of getting a Note 4, and playing FF games again, on the go, is very inticing.  Like, are the games smooth and lag/glitch free?

I like how there's a lot of Vita love in the thread.

I wish Sony would show even half as much love to the Vita as it's owners do. So much wasted potential.

Nice score on the limited edition N3DS! I'd love to snag one someday.

2013 and 2014 were all about 3ds for me. Beat quite a few games: Luigi's Mansion: DM, Zelda: ALBW, Kirby: TD, Virtue's Last Reward and a bunch of others. I just beat Moon Chronicles and really enjoyed it. 3ds has been awesome.

Getting way more Vita time the last few months, though. I finally started playing Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and it's awesome! Just beat Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Next up: Freedom Wars. People are right - Vita doesn't get enough love/support from Sony or mainstream public. It has so many good games on it if people would just give it a chance.

I have a huge backlog still on 3ds and Vita (and even DS) so I'll probably try and whittle that down before I get a N3ds or any new handheld games. Would love to play MM3D and Monster Hunter 4 sometime soon.

And also, love pulling out my GBA every now and then whenever I need my Metroid: Zero Mission fix. Wish they'd put that on Wii U.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

They're from the playstore. SE has most of the FF remakes and DQ games up there. It runs absolutely fluently with my Note 3. Played through the FF3 3D remake without any problems.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I play lots of Pokemon on my 3DS, my Vita is used for indie games and the occasional Japanese title that catches my eye. I usually play Wordament or Sudoku on my phone whenever I'm out and I have a few minutes to kill.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I have a 3DS XL( which I'm giving to my daughter) and playing MM 3D( having a blast btw), now I'm waiting for my local game store to sell the New 3DS.

Recently played Kid Icarus Uprising. It really is an amazing game, definitely one of the best of this gen.

Currently playing Theatrhythm Curtain Call. Nice and nostalgic rhythm game but the RPG elements add a lot of depth to it.

I just played Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for 10 hrs straight...I might have a problem.  Seriously though I don't think I've ever played my 3DS so much.
