Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo WiiU Revision? Peripheral? Xenoblade report mentions "further improvement"

I'll agree with episteme and haqqaton in that the physical copy of the game will give you the option to install part or the whole game into the internal memory (or external HDD) to get better performance, like that Rockstar did with GTA V on the PS360.

Please excuse my bad English.

Wow, and those Wii U Optical Disks hold 25GB's of storage...

50GB, in fact

This just sounds like a normal install of the game on the internal storage which will make it load faster. So another last gen technology finally reaching the Wii U.

Are they confirmed as dual layer? I'd only ever read they were 25GB capacity.

Xenoblade will come with a usb drive where you can clone your retail disks. Digital versions won't need it.

EDIT: Wow, I was super late xD

So will the game come with a USB drive / SD memory card to implement caching?

Cool...would be nice if this is going to be an option going forward.  There are plenty of titles I'd like to be able to load up on my WiiU, especially since I finally got a hard drive.  I really wonder why this hasn't been an option yet.

I'd love to install it as well. My disk won't be used for anything else anyway. I always appreciate faster loading times.
