Forums - Sony Discussion - Vita one step closer to death - Loses YouTube support

Strange and unfortunate, I used the app a fair bit.

At this point the sales trajectory of the system is remaining in the niche category so things like this don't mean much. The fact that it was YOY in the west over the holiday is quite comforting.

How on earth does one lose youtube support? Too bad though, poor vita owners! (Luckly, for me, I didn't even know there was an youtube app since I use compy-chan for that)

Seems google wants money and is abusing its monopoly

Guess that means I can stop hoping for a youtube app for my PSTV =(

I didn't even know there was a YouTube app on my Vita. But I am outraged anyway!

I think that's actually more games than they released for Vita.

Knack's Quest omg this is a gold mine

Do you know that half of them are apps and the other half are tie-ins for games that are on Vita (except Knack), right?

I honestly don't care. I have never used my Vita for YouTube before.

Oh so its seems its sony who dropped the support and not the other way round. They really don't like the PSV lol

"As a fan has pointed out, this coincides with Google itself shifting from YouTube API v2 to v3. Sony had more than enough time to have their apps updated, with over a year since they announced they would end support for the API. Google revealed that they would be dropping support by April, but Sony is removing the two apps a month before, with a system update this coming March."

Those are not portable gaming devices.

Nope! They arent.

... portable, games are played on them, infact more time is spent playing games on them then 3DS and Vita combined, not a portable gaming device. Got ya =P

Nope! They arent! :P

I refuse to recognise their existance as anything more than phones. They have no controls. Touch screen gaming isnt proper gaming.

Grin/ well Sony does have Bluetooth game pads that work on xperia and other hardware company's made smartphones from the lake's of HTC etc. It was the shift to playstation Mobile at the same time they released the PSVita that for Sony's next dedicated handheld is software based..IE: smart phone's and App's

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

Well at least Youtube supported the Vita longer than Sony did.

Same here, never used it, I would say gaming occupies 100% of how I use my Vita to be honest.
