Forums - Sony Discussion - Would u be willing to pay an extra for backwards compatibility?

Imagine if Sony offered an edition of ps4 with full ps3 BC and ps2 for, like, 100 dollars more

 Would u pay it ?

I wouldnt , with all those ports from last gen soon all The games worth owning in ps3 will have enhanced editions for ps4.

Yes I would.

I would if there was one available already. too late, now.

I might cause the retail versions of the ps3 games go for dirt cheap compared to the "enhanced" ports which are just essentially higher res, better frame rate and some dlc stuff. Sounds great until you realize the original versions cost < $20 at retail vs the ported version costs >$40 and also the fact that if you have ps3 games, you don't have to rebuy them in order to play on the ps4

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I would have if it was available day 1. Now I just don't give a shit anymore.

Well obviously it had to be available before you got your PS4...

Nah. I don't have a PS3, so the idea is nice, but they seem intent on remaking the entire library, so I don't see the need.

I'd pay for extra for an Xbox One backwards comp. and PS4 :)

I would do that for PS4, Xbox one and the Wii U(which can currently play Gamecube games natively, it just needs a special DVD drive for the disks). I have always hoped they could release a usb dongle with the hardware/emulated hardware needed to have last gen games work with current gen, but I do not know if that is possible.

With that said I never see this happening. There is too much money in cheaply porting old games over so that the ip owners get paid for giving us the privilege of playing our old games on our new consoles(FF7).

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

No. I was thrilled early on with the PS3 having it, but i found i didn't really use it after the first year.
