okr said: I will soon play Telltale's Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us (the first games I'll play from them since the overrated and disapponting Tales of MI). I heard they're pretty good and I actually look forward to playing them (plus I love Bill Willingham's Fables), but the English speaking media declaring Telltale as saviours of the adventure game genre still makes me mad. Their classic-style adventure games were ugly as heck and decent at best (mainly Sam & Max) and then they saw the sales figures of Heavy Rain... |
I haven't played Tales from the Borderlands, but as someone who has never read the comics I thought TWAU was absolutely fantastic. I hear Borderlands is pretty great, too, but it's a bit unseemly to see Telltale just grabbing up every popular license they can lay their hands on while they're still hot after the success of The Walking Dead. Game of Thrones isn't so offensive, as the setting seems perfect for another of the strong, dark stories that seem to be their forte lately, but does the world really need or want this Minecraft thing? Blech.
I'd also think a lot more highly of them as a developer if they did more offbeat original stuff in the vein of Puzzle Agent.
