The Xbox360 is rumored, from a Russian site, to have a price drop on the way. If the 360 has a price drop of $50, what do you think the potential outcome would be? Keep in mind, GTAIV is right around the corner, and the 360 will couple this with a huge exclusive content push.

I will be the first to admit this. If the PS3 DOES NOT CUT PRICE it will be in deep shit. GTAIV and Madden during the summer, the 360 could be sitting pretty without a response from the PS3. However, if both consoles cut price by $50, what do you all think would be the result?

 BTW, that would put the Pro at $299 and the 40gb at $349. I dont count the Arcade because it wont be able to access the DLC, but still $229 is cheap, and you get to play GTAIV. For those who dont care about DLC, that would be a good deal.

I am usually optimistic about the PS3 and sales, but I can't say with confidence anymore that the PS3 will benefit the most from GTA.

I will wait until more credible announcement. As for now, I don't think PS3 will have a price-cut, they already announced MGS4 bundle price already.

the ps3 probably wont cut price because of the newly announced metal gear solid bundle.

the ps3 has some of their own big releases this spring with gran turismo 5 prologue and haze.

i dont think a 50 buck drop by MS would make that big of a difference. yea they might take a lead in sales for a couple weeks, but with all the ps3 games coming out after mgs 4, i expect ps3 to be on top.

having madden in the summer doesnt really help console sales at all, every console has madden.

Reduce the price of the XBox 360 core and it will be back in business. Cheapest console = win. I say screw the companies we demand cheaper consoles.

299$ PS3 price will hurt x360 more then 299$ x360 price would bring in sales.
Though 349$ PS3 price will make the situation as same as it now, maybe just a little better for ps3 then now.
IF Sony won`t react on pricecut, then x360 will probably sell on pair in europe and usa.

The 360 needs a price cut more than the PS3 does. If the price cut is only $50, I doubt Sony will immediately respond. If it is more than $50, expect a Sony cut to follow shortly afterwards. I expect Sony will probably want to wait until fall, if they can

Yeah that bundle issue is throwing me off too. Possibly a bluff? Maybe they know something about Microsoft we don't know? I think announcing pricing so prematurely is dumb though, but oh well.

Well IMO in best case Sony should lower the price of the 40 gig models to 300 $ or before GTA4s launch , or during the launch of MGS4 ... that would help a lot :)
