Teamspeak is free for the end user or client.

Sc94597 is correct, it was designed for PC multiplayer games, most notably First Person Shooters.

A) You'll hear echos of sounds of the TV or computer through the mic all the time
B) I like to only turn it on when I've got something to say, not when I say "Damn!" every time I die or "get the dog out of here!", anytime I cough, etc.

Hmm, very interesting. We oughta use this teamspeak for the bigger tournaments then, that FireWater has provided, so everyone can be involved, and use skype in smaller matches.

No problem fellas. Like I said the quality isn't as good, but likewise it drains less bandwidth. Skype is TOO GOOD actually. It will totally screw up your bandwidth while playing.

Also with teamspeak, you just log on and chat. If all your friends have the same TS server, they don't have to add each other individually.

It is a public Teamspeak, feel free to invite whoever you want.

As far as headsets go, I use this one.

Its a USB headset, with a Digital Signal Processor. Basically what that means is that it is a built in sound card for the headset, giving you really good quality.

Its a decent amount of money, but I feel its worth it. You can also get this one for a lot cheaper, without the DSP.

^ I'm thinking of getting a wireless one. Do you have any suggestions on that, since you seem like you have a little bit of knowledge in the field? I was looking at a Logitech one that they have at their website, and it's $99, which really isn't too bad for a wireless one. But it doesn't come out until May, and I'd like to get one ASAP. And so I could live with a wired one until then (though I won't get an expensive one), but if you know of a good wireless that I can get now... that would be nice.

I had set up a teamspeak server as well but I tried skype and thought it would be easier for everyone to use especially since I wouldn't have my server up 24/7 and skype works REALLY well. Personally Skype doesn't take up too much bandwidth for me, I was playing some battalion wars online at the same time as using skype, it's also XBL quality voice chat I was talking to fazz it's pretty good.

I don't know any online voice chat service that does that, unless you want to use MSN, Vent, teamspeak, and skype all are on constantly while you talk.
