I don't think there is a PSP2. There's going to be upgraded iterations that are all backwards compatible. The UMD drive is holding back any serious redesign. If Sony ditches the UMD then it could get interesting. Otherwise we're just going to see new versions of the PSP with added functionality but with the same basic design.

Exactly. And they can release a new model with a better screeen, more/faster memory, a TV-Out, a GPS unit and even a TV tuner. They could release a model that had the add-ons built in. It's still going to be the same PSP phat as far as playing Jeanne D'Arc or Monster Hunter (maybe with faster loading times). I expect the multi-media capabilities can be enhanced quite a bit but I don't think they are going to make the PSP phat obsolete by releasing games that can't be played on it. When they do that then it will be a PSP2.

We can't go to flash cards ;-; there just too expensive for how much storage you get >< Not feasible for power type gaming in my opinion.

Isn't UMD 900MB/1,8GB? Would that really be that expensive on a flash card?

This is what I ecpect the next PSP to be. I think it should launch with multiple SKUs ranging from $199 to $399 USD. The 399 Model should feature all I stated above, with a 299 model dropping the Phone, GPS, and Camera, while the 199 version should drop all the same fetures and come with only 32GB of internal memory. I would like to see it launch in all regions the same day, with silver, black, and white being the first color options. As it became economically feisible I would like to see Sony add more memory to each sku, such as 160, 120, and 80GB models at the three year anniversary. I would hope to see them get the prices of the SKUs down to 99, 149, and 199 at some point in the life of the system, however this depends on the economy. If the economy continues to go to crap, and the dollar stablizes at a poor conversion rate I expect them to stay at 149, 199, and 249. This may sound crazy now but I am sure in 4 years this kind of tech will be very possible from a hardware colaberation, with the likes Sony, Samsung, nVidia, IBM, Toshiba, and others.

 Copy Cat.

Do you mean that you don't think there will ever be one, or just not one for the next few years. Personally, I don't think we will see one until around 2010, with 1 major redesign before then. The reason for this is that then they can have better interactivity between the PS4 and PSP2, with an integrated online service, and some cross platform games. My ideal world would allow me to buy PES 2010 for PS3, and then get a game with it for PSP (a unique download code) so that I could have the game on both for the price of 1, but then again, I think that is unrealistic

I would like the next PSP to focus more on playing video games and less on movie playing and features that make it the penultimate way to transport media unrelated to video games. (notice I used "penultimate" correctly, as the PSP is still a second-rate media device)

This would benefit gamers as more games would be sold and would also eliminate confusion as to what the PSP is (some buy it as a very expensive mp3 player from 2004), and would benefit studios as they won't have to scratch their heads and wonder why a handheld with such a high userbase sells less games than the GameCube.

All I want is:

- Internal memory
- 2 Analog Sticks
- Better Games (come on, sony has so many franchises)
- Faster Load Times
- Smaller/Lighter if possible

There won't be a PSP2 for at least another generation, honestly, why do they need to upgrade it? They can just keep the PSP as is and have graphics comparible to the DS's successor while having the advantage of a pre-existing instal base.
