Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone else noticing a huge return of Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures/games?

I went to my local game store (the Game Mania (in Belgium)) to pick up Pokémon Omega Ruby. Since a few months they have a literal bargain bin and today, it was filled to the brim with Skylanders/ Disney Infinity games and figures. Anyone else noticing this..?

On the other hand, Super Smash Bros U was selling like hotcakes. And the Amiibo's were all sold out by pre-orders (and they ordered a hole bunch judging by the counter).

Hmm, I wonder if you can trade those in for amiibos or something?

I bet they only got 5-10% of war they originally paid for

Amiibos and these things are such a waste of money

You can trade old games back for a cash-back or value towards other games. Skylanders and Disney Infinity used to get you 15 to 20€ back for the starter kit, but now, because they have so many, it's only 7€ for Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, the portal, and the 4 base figurines.

Disney is playing up their sequel pretty hard, and Skylanders have the fourth game out.

I personally despise these things, even amiibos, and wouldn't get them for my kids, but I can definitely see why they are so popular.

I noticed this yesterday at my GameStop. A ton of old figurines were there. Makes me wonder if the fad is dying and Nintendo jumped in too late.

I just know my store is endlessly ordering a ton of skylander an infinity stuff.

My kids are crazy over it!

It might be a local phenomenom, I have Skylanders myself, but I was thinking of trading them in for Amiibo, but the trade-in value is too low.

Yeah. My kids mostly want the Disney Infinity figures. They are nice quality figures, but the game seems to be fairly weak.

My 8th gen collection

It likely has more to do with people getting doubles.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

.....Christmas? Family and stuff for children are going to have huge spikes in sales. I suppose the Amiibos may be helping a bit as retailers may be hoping to glide off that wind. Still, this is assuming Amiibos are doing well, and that people in general are hyped for them.
