Amiibos aren't a waste for someone who is a Nintendo collector (for some characters this is first time you can buy a figurine of them). A lot better having figures of your favorite Nintendo characters than some random scissor creature or whatever from Skylanders. Same can be said about Disney since I believe Nintendo characters > Disney characters. I am pretty sure Mario > Mickey.
