Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why Is Microsoft Panicking?

I have to say, i would be worried about how the MS stockholders feel about this sales, price cuts and bundles.

But those are good for the consumer and maybe is the way XBOX found to counter the bad publicity it had in 2013. If it gets known for having cheap games, that image could carry on even after those sales stopped.

Just like PSN sucked in 2014, but no one complains about paying a monthly fee for the online, because it "worth it". It would take 2 or 3 bad years for people to question PSN real value.

They're being aggressive to try and gain lost ground. Heck, even if they weren't behind I wouldn't fault them for being so aggressive. Convince someone to buy your system and you're making money off of them for the next seven years. When your competition is nearly identical to you in every way, you've got to do what you can to get the leading edge.

Perhaps its time that Microsoft stops depending so much on third party. Sony learned their lesson about doing that last gen and ended up having the most new IP's.

What I have seen from last gen it will be difficult. Microsoft relies heavily on third party exclusives and despite having more studios they have fewer new IPs. And in this age making new IP is also very difficult. It takes time and good studio to make it. It seems Microsoft has started that process recently after the negative reaction of reveal and post-launch criticism.

Oh Damn!! Looks like Microsoft will have to start selling off buildings.

This is fanboyism at it's worst. A company drops prices and all the OP is worried about is how it will be percieved. Enjoy the savings!

The difference is that it is much easier to make cross platform ports these days as Sony has designed a developer friendly archeticture so I don't think Microsoft needs to worry about PS4 getting all kinds of 3rd party exclusives. Games are simply too expensive to create these days for publishers to ignore xbox even if Sony continues to 2 to 1 them.

That's a bullshit response or you read it wrong. Its crucial that MS moves a lot of hardware to encourage support.

Sony was very reliant on 3rd party software to move hardware. They made some good games, but 3rd party moved a bulk of the hardware. In fact, it was crucial for Sony do to price cuts on PS3 to encourage support.

Further more, Sony's PS4 games thus far have been underwhelming. They're showing a huge reliance on 3rd party to help.

Microsoft did not think they would be 1m behind in the US. Now they're going to be doing everything they can to make that gap disappear.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

They should be panicking. They will lose the top spot in the USA this gen, and in Europe they are doing terribly,

Nobody but themselves. Why discount your biggest holiday exclusive two weeks after release?

I think you got Sunset Overdrive confused with Halo:MCC. I'd argue Forza Horizon 2 is more improtant than Sunset Overdrive.

I imagine Sunset Overdrive got a lot of advertising because that's what Insomniac requested.
