1. Yes it detects a light press.
2. Yes

For the third one, you can customize the controls

Thanks.
Follow up question.

1.) Does pressing the button lightly bring up a different kind of shield? Or will it be the same, no matter if you press it softly or all the way down?

Yeah I figured. Was just curious what the default was.

Nope it's the same shield.

I have a question. Does it feel better than the pro controller if you guys have used both?

After using them, I think they're both great options. The only reason that I currently prefer the GameCube controller is because I've gotten used to Melee's controls, and the shield/grab buttons are reversed on the Pro Controller. Other than that, they both feel comfortable while playing. I can definitely see myself using the Pro Controller if I can re-learn the shield/grab buttons for it.

You can always just edit the controls for the Pro controller. I know what you're saying though. I had to play with the Pro for a bit, and having the shield on L and R and grab on ZL and ZR was annoying.

I have a question about the controller too, does it work with the original gamecube and wii?

I dont have a wii u, but am interested in getting a new gamecube controller to play virtual console games on wii and oldschool GC games

Yes.

It works with pretty much everything, which would be: Wii U GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo GameCube Controller, Wiimote, Wiimote+Nunchuk, Wii Classic Controller and Wii Classic Controller Pro. erm.

Edit: however, to play with GameCube controllers obviously you have to get the GameCube Adapter.

coolies, thx

Both are decent, but I still prefer the GCN controller. Played both in 8-player smash earlier today. If you never got the chance to use a Gamecube controller, now is a great time to see why so many consider it the best ever manufactured. That being said, you shouldn't be at any sort of disadvantage using a Pro controller.
