Forums - Nintendo Discussion - After Bayonetta 2's performances, what are the expectations on Devil's Third?

Tagged games:

It won't do as well as Bayonetta who already had a fan base coming in.

Its main hope lies in the potential for its multiplayer to be fun and it may gain a following. Unlikely we will get another Goldeneye 007 (N64) or Modern Warfare where it redefines multiplayer games of its era but that is likely what it would need to be to do better then probably Hyrule Warriors.

But then again, maybe Japan will love it... nah... maybe... dunno

It's a new IP isn't it? That will count against it in sales.

I have a feeling this game has a lot of potential to defy people's expectations.

You really have to look at Itagaki's track record: Ninja Gaiden reboot on Xbox, the original DOA, and I think even Tecmo Bowl. There's a good man leading the ship.

Apart from what you *thought* you saw at E3, consider this: An action game that seemlessly blends hand-to-hand combat and FPS with a kind of corny old school Duke Nukem/Jean Claude Van Damme post-apocolypse world. Sounds cool to me. Oh and Nintendo has their hands in it. Color me intrigued. And I think you should be too.

ALSO: I really want to play as Wario in this game. Not a costume. Wario. If Wario is a playable character in the game, day 1 buy.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I can't wait to get it and I think it will sell pretty well..

Aren't both games from a second party developer?

No

The only people I can see buying this are Nintendo's White Knights, the guys that must buy every game published by Nintendo without a 2nd thought. Graphically it looks garbage, gameplay wise it looks pretty garbage, its a new and unadvertised IP, its on the WiiU and its a mature game. Their is no way this does anything respectable.

Looks to have decently fun multiplayer but it will not sell well ill buy it though.

Second party?

And it may seem like it could be at least a little comparable, but I seriously doubt Nintendo will support DT as much as they did Bayo2.

Platinum is still 3rd party.  They're THINKING about going 2nd party, but for now still 3rd.  And dunno bout the Devil's Third developers

Depends. There are some really good ideas and if done right the game could actually solve a lot of the mechanical problems I have with shooters. If done correctly, it could be like what Goldeneye was to the N64 and actually sell decently. That's the issue though, because it has to be done right, and right now it needs some definite improvement first.

I'll wait until we get more information on the game before I fully judge it though.
