Nintendo EAD must do the new IPs, Intelligent Systems on the other hand doesn't know how to make stuff outside of the Wario Ware games, Fire Emblem and Paper Mario, this S.T.E.A.M thing it's just the proof. So I rather have them making something familiar than this. It's just delaying the next FE and Paper Mario games even more.

Didn't they make the critically acclaimed Advance Wars strategy games?

Stop developing this crap, Intelligent, and make already the next Paper Mario game for Wii U.

I feel like this comment represents Nintendo's unique sitution in a nutshell:

Nintendo fans: "We want new IPs"

Nintendo: "Well, heres a new IP with an interesting setting and unique gameplay elements"

Nintendo fans: "Stop developing this crap, Intelligent (subsidiary of Nintendo), and make already the next Paper Mario game for Wii U."

At the very least, wait till the game comes out before throwing shit at them... Intelligient Systems have a great track record for making strategy games and I am pretty sure this won't be any less

I dont see what the issue is of them trying to make a new IP, specially if its a strategy game. They made both Advance Wars and Fire Emblem which were great if not some of the best strategy games in their time and they still are so them exploring new IPs isn't exactly a bad thing... Paper Mario and etc are obviously coming but I dont see why they shouldn't make something like this

You're right, but when did the last Wars game launch? In 2008 if I'm not mistaken.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

There are more than enough Mario games in the world, with many, many more to come.

(...)

Maybe, but people have been waiting ten years for a legitimate Paper Mario sequel now.

Didn't they just make one recently?  I'm confused.

Research tells me there was a Sticker game but I guess Stickers aren't what people want?  I don't know.

Personally, I'd rather have a good turn based strategy game than either a paper or sticker based game.

It doesn't really look that appealing to me. Looks like Valkyria Chronicles but with generic characters, and worse. I mean, Tom Sawyer? Really? This is not even unique, it looks pale and not very attractive like Wars and Fire Emblem are.

The game it's not even for Wii U. I don't see reason to praise it for something because I do really think it looks that bad, by far the most atrocious Intelligent has ever done.

I will need to play it to judge it better, but I rarely like something that doesn't look good to me on screen, so I fear the worse in this case.

Looks like a steampunk version of Valkyria Chronicles or XCom.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

Well to me, it looks quite interesting. Its a steam punk style with Romans, Lincoln and who knows what else they will include in the final game. And sure, the game is not for wiiu but oh well. The wiiu is not Nintendo's only platform and the 3ds certainly needs games for 2015.

And I get that u may not like it but telling them to "stop developing this crap" sure is a very aggressive thing to say for a game which we havnt seen much of yet. I remember the mario 3d world e3 trailer looked pretty meh until we saw a lot more of it in the coming months. So I really dont think a game like this deserves to be shat on, specially since its made by intelligent systems who knows how to make great strategy games.

You don't have to praise it but u dont have to shit on it either

AH yes. Clearly Intelligent Systems doesn't know how to make anything other than great titles in four diverse and critically successful franchises.
OH, did I also forget to mention Mario Kart Super Circuit? And the Pushmo series? And programming credits for Super Metroid back in the day? Plus developing the well liked Tetris Attack (no relation to Tetris) too?
Hell, Intelligent Systems is obviously incapable of doing anything.

Oh come on, give them a chance.

Besides AlphaDream could do Paper Mario. Mario & Luigi series have been great.

Please, God, no! I HATED the 3DS Mario & Luigi game. So many tutorials and lame mechanics. And the art style was meh. That being said, Intelligent Systems hasn't made a Paper Mario game I've liked since TTYD. Sigh. I'd give anything for them to make a pure Paper Mario RPG like the first 2.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Is Pushmo a flagship franchise for Intelligent today? I doubt it. And Super Metroid is a 20 year old game, doesn't really count, same for Tetris Attack and Super Circuit, they're very old games.

Recent years for Intelligent have been a mixed bad, objectively speaking. Sticker Star wasn't really a great criticial hit, Awakening was far from excellent, the Pushmo games are ok and Game & Wario was really sad.
