Everyone i know with a ps4 (myself included) only buys digitally. This has more to do with it being about half price buying from europe on US psn. After the price increase in EU a lot of people has shifted and will only increase.

I want to say its more about Sony's credit card blunder back a bit a go.

It doesn't matter whether you buy a disc or download, the entire game is still installed on the hard drive. |
While this is true there is no way i could possibly be deleting games and then redownloading them when I want to play them again. At least with the disc I can quickly reinstall. Im not saying digital downloads arent good, or that some people won't prefer them. Im just saying that its just not viable for a large large portion of people and that problem will still be present next gen.

A third of SE console sales are digital. This along with the massive ratings on the PSN stores for GTA 5 leaves me to believe the Playstation is doing some pretty big digital sales.
For example GTA 5 on the US store has about 16k star ratings and over 80k thumbs up from USA buyers. The EU store has about 13k star ratings but i can't see the thumbs up cus i didn't buy it there.
They are massive digital sales and for comparison Destiny has about double the ratings GTA has and that's been out a lot longer. I really think people under estimated how many copies GTA 5 next gen would sell. Well SOny didn't cus they have the bundle coming up.
starcraft said: I am sure they are not small, but PS Cash cards have been purchased in large doses for a long time due to: 1. Delays in bringing them out in Europe, leading to large pent up demand. 2. Sony's perceived appalling ability to protect your credit card details. |
This.

that doesn't change the fact people are buying a shit load digital from psn. SE said a third of console sales are digital. GTA 5 I guarantee you has sold a shitload considering in the US store alone over 80k people who bought it left a thumbs up. More people don't rate their purchases than do.

Well I buy more digital on the 360 and X1 since there are rarely any great deals on PSN compared to XBL and I buy my cards on amazon also. But on both of those consoles there are a lot more people buying digital contend directly since there was never a a huge security breach on XBL.

Yes, it is relevant the amount of digital games sold through consoles, Steam or handhelds - what SE considers to be HD. Unless we can defragment the data given, it isn't very telling using six month data, since we don't know where the money put on digital went, and from where.
