I see they have not changed the way they attach the hdmi port, this causing a lot of issues at the moment.

Like what?

Here's one i'm working on now, the hdmi broke off, if it was soldered through hole it would be stronger!

I strongly doubt Sony will cut the price until holidays 2015. It's not like MS is cutting Xbone price anytime soon too, they already did it three times in the console's first year.

Sony has zero reason to do a price drop right now.

Fear not there will be no price cut, it will only reducing the cost while maintaining the same price and benefit to the production cost and overal cost. They do this to get money and make more console, and also improve some part on the system.

My PS4 is the CUH-1001A

I'm having a tough time remembering the M$ price cuts.  Can you remind me?

Is this signaling an incoming price cut?

Why would they do that? I guess "their" price is cut, yes, so they make more profit off PS4. This is not for "us".

Pretty simple. Whatever profits the stand to make on hardware pale in comparison to what the will make from platform fees, their own game sales and PS+ subscriptions.  If the can sell the system without taking a loss they can even create make believe bargins like system+ game at 399.  Sell more consoles and make bank off of software and services.

I don't know about in the US, but in the UK it's had 3. It was launched at £429, was then cut to £399 (with TF being given away for free), then they released the Kinectless version for £349, and then about a month ago they cut it again to £329. The last price cut put it under the PS4's price.

The removal of Kinect isn't a traditional price cut, but i'd say it's worth listing with the others. A lot of people (such as myself) didn't want a Kinect, so to them it's functionally a price cut (which was MS's intention of removing Kinect).

Sony haven't yet made an official price cut, but i do expect one within the next few months (or at the very least big holiday cuts). Sony were pretty clear that building the PS4's install base is a priority for them. Price cuts aren't just to help boost low sales, they're to maintain high ones or potentially lead to even higher sales. That's a concept many don't seem to understand :/
