Not very encouraging.....

good thread. good responses. I think it works both ways. Sure you dont want to put someone who hates a certain type of game on that genre. But sometimes you have to broaden peoples horizons. If the guy would've enjoyed this game then would we be complaining he didn't like the genre? He could have pointed out things that impressed him that others that are fans of the genre might have taken for granted (oh well GTA does this aiming better so this games stupid). Obviously the main editor or whoever lead the site should've went through and reviewed this review. I don't its fair to say only fans of specific genres can review those genre games but obviously some people are not capable of appreciating certain things. Which is why you have certain checks and balances to ensure your giving out quality reviews.

I do however think the review industry as a whole needs to be redone. I think things are pretty bad in their current state.

Infamous dull? I thought it was the best ps4 exclusive I've yet seen and played. I didn't listen to the rest of the preview. I don't care what his issue is. Infamous was good.

Haha, finally, Asterix!  Love the Avatar (took me awhile to remember).

Yes mate. Asterix all the way. I might like Xbox. But I call a spade a spade. Infamous is a game I'd buy if it were on Xbox one. It's a.f unFame that looks gorgeous.

Weird thing is, I'm about 99.9% sure the comics we had growing up were in another language, so all I could do was look at the pictures (though, I was very young anyway, so reading wasn't a strong suit yet..we're talking like ~30+ years ago heh).

I have every book still.from childhood. Every one. :)))))

I will accept your arguments on biased reviewers. I still think that objectivity can be reached even by non-fans of the genre, but certainly some people can use their bias towards bad purposes.

But as I said earlier, we will be much wiser come Monday, and find out if this person had an agenda.

I think that CAN be true, absolutely, but I think the behavior of games reviewers should give us all pause before thinking that's what's happening.  We have way too many examples of people letting their pre-conceived biases, effect their review scores.  They should be reviewing their game, and I don't think it's a good sign when going into it, they openly admit a bias against a genre.  Doesn't instill a great deal of confidence in me, that they aren't thinking about that bias throughout the entire review process.

It's also something that separates actual journalists from games reviewers.  Most reviewers have not gone through anything remotely close to the level of education/training that a true journalist does.  That education can often help them separate their biases, from the conclusions they draw.

It is true. It is becoming a problem of journalism in general, because, just as NBA and MLB expansions dilluted the talent on teams, the unprecedented expansion of journalism from a few newspapers, magazines and networks into a Milky Way of internet portals and youtube channels has brought into spotlight thousands of usually complete functional illiterates which present themselves as "journalists".

A decade ago, we had 5 gaming magazines, and you could have taken their review to the bank 99 out of 100 times. Today, we have about 80 reviews tallied by Metacritic, along with dozens of video reviews, twitch reviews etc...

You just cannot trust any single one. I don't read or watch reviews for over 2 years. I decide what to play after a period of information gathering. And so far I have made almost no mistakes when choising games to play, and know that I would have missed some very enjoyable games had I listened to reviews.

I dont listen to reviews these days, i just buy what i like the look of... it's much easier these days...cause i am sick of muppets getting all self important and having a god complex.

I'm still very bitter about Mafia 2 getting 4/10.

I loved mafia 2. Much better than GTA 4. Who the hell gave it 4???

I'm not sure how many we have, probably 3-4 of the thicker ones (not sure if that's how they always came, or if these were just special editions of the overall comic).

The books are what I meant. There are quite a lot of books not found in the comic stories. I have them all in English.

It's been a long time since I looked at them, so they could very well be books.  Was really young when I had access to them.  Pretty sure none of the ones we have are in English though.

I loved the game, and even with its faults could see a range score of 6-8... but anything below 5 for such a competant game was extremely annoying. I appreciate reviewers are giving their opinion, but it's stupid to give such a low score for such a game... it wasnt unplayable, it had lots of content, it had a reasonably good story, the graphics were good..etc etc.

There's 35 in total. The only one I'm missing is Asterix and the picts. Released 2013. I also have the 2 books which are not considered part of the actual set. But were based on the films. The cartoon films not the live fin.

I 3rd this. Mafia should have been better but it was good as it was. Always hoped for another game
