Ibdid like the subtitle: "Overdriven Underwhelmed". Very glad they took developer's advice and didn't use "overhyped". Just proves that they are obviously not "lazy journalists".

Also, is it a rule now that only people who liked Infamous should be allowed to review this game?

Well, when the review embargo finally lifts a day before release, we will finally find out who is to be relied on more: people who dislike Infamous and have played SO, or people who have not played SO and like XBox.

Hyperbole doesn't help your argument.  No one has said if a reviewer doesn't like Infamous, they shouldn't be reviewing games.  However, multiple folks have stated that allowing someone who clearly doesn't like a certain Genre, to review/preview that genre, is stupid.  Give it to someone who actually likes TPS games, that way, you avoid having biases you know already exist, to effect the review process.

And this is a big problem in the industry.  It's not just Sunset Overdrive.

Surely it works both ways: A person that likes TPS is biased more toward scoring an average or poor TPS better than it deserves. There is no clear cut answer, but everyone is welcome to pick and choise to listen to their version of truth...

Ridiculous, I have accepted that several times review is unfair, but asking someone to review a game he don't like the genre. I wouldn't accept reviewing Halo because I would give an undeserved low score. I remember an idiot giving GT5 a 4 because she hated Racing games. Don't matter how much you preffer gt or fm no one could justify a below 8 for those games.
hope the game do good, insominiac makes Money and Ms players like the game.

Not sure I'd agree with that, honestly.  I think someone who truly enjoys a certain genre, will have played a larger variety of those games, than someone who doesn't.  Therefore, they should have a much larger body of work to evaluate a certain game, against.  At least, that's my take.  But, I don't discount the possibility of your argument.

I'll still buy it, as dull as Infamous, that seems to be a good thing.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Some more reviewers that dont belong in the industry. I'd like to see them stick to reviewing things they have extensive knowledge of, like anal beads.

Nonsense

You are missing the point,

If you dont lke the genre, you are never going to review a game from it as anything other than a negative.

If you like the genre, you can still be critical and not like a specific game from it.

I like many FPS, therefore I like the genre.... But I have played some shit FPS games that I would score low.

However, I dont like fighting games. They are all crappy to me... dont ask me to review one ever as it will score low every single time.

Exactly.  I think it's much, much more difficult to shake a pre-conceived bias, than to be critical of a game in a genre that you do like, in fact, you may be able to be more critical, just because of your experience with games in the genre in question.

Infamous dull? I thought it was the best ps4 exclusive I've yet seen and played. I didn't listen to the rest of the preview. I don't care what his issue is. Infamous was good.

Someone needs to save this thread, preserve it in carbonite. We have Sony and Microsoft fans all agreeing with each other....what the fuck universe did I wake up in :)

Haha, finally, Asterix!  Love the Avatar (took me awhile to remember).

I will accept your arguments on biased reviewers. I still think that objectivity can be reached even by non-fans of the genre, but certainly some people can use their bias towards bad purposes.

But as I said earlier, we will be much wiser come Monday, and find out if this person had an agenda.
