Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Slim to be announced at E3 2015

Besides being absolute bullshit, a stronger version of a console probably makes the most sense this gen. Just to ramp up resolution and fps. No adjustments to games needed.

i know everyone is going to pick on the "no optical drive" bit but..

..i'm already 100% digital on my console. i'd be game for a sku that trades in an optical drive for a bigger/faster hard drive. that wouldn't be the sku for everyone,.. hell it wouldn't even be the sku for most people. ..but it would be a good sku for me.

Then it's perfect for you :)  I didn't say nobody should buy it.  I said, No Optical, no thanks.  My personal preference.

i was about this  close  --->  <----    to buying a pspgo back in the day.  how they thought they could sell a digital only console when most of the best games weren't availible digitally is beyond me.  i'm glad i held out because i got to play most of the psp games i was really interested in on vita.

I'm just turning off my sarcasm mode for a bit... Digital only is too expensive. DA:I preorder via PSN store is £55, from Amazon at the moment £40 with some bullcrap DLC too. Until this pricing issue is sorted, digital only won't take off.

Sarcasm mode back on now. BEST PREDICTION EVER!!

Hmm, pie.

I'm not totally averse to buying digital (have plenty on Steam), but I do prefer to have the physical game.  I guess I prefer the option, over being shoe-horned into one camp or the other.

If game prices were similar to the ones of PC/Steam. I would be in.

i won't speak for europe.

in the US psn's DA preorder is $59.99 and at amazon it is $59.96.    i think i can afford a 3 cent premium.   to be frank,.. with all the ps+ sales i find psn to be cheaper than retail quite often.  not always but often enough.   besides,..

While a SSD is a good idea. a 500GB or 1TB drive is more expensive than the console.  Obviously a fake article.

i get it. different strokes for different folks.  i can respect that.

i think a lot of people will look at digital and parse the cents out and say that because the physical retailer is cut out they are "owed" a cheaper price.  i personally see the security of having zero risk of my game getting lost or stolen or scratched with the convience of not having to get off my couch to swich games or have to buy another bookshelf to store them as worth a premium pricing model.

for me the physical game would have to be significantly cheaper (like $60 digital vs $10 physical) to even consider the physical copy.  actually,. even at $10 i think i'd just by the digital game.  i still have dead space 2 and a couple over ps3 games stilling on my shelf  still in its shrink wrap only because i can't be bothered to put them into my ps3.   physical is basically worthless to me these days.

Nothing wrong with a PS4 slim digital only, AS LONG as there is a version along side of it that accepts discs as well.

Also Sony would never make such an ugly console as in that picture, ugh!

meh. don't see the need for it
