Forums - Sony Discussion - Why Share Play is game changing.

Do you think Share Play feature will have marketing potential?

Yes 44 73.33%

No 16 26.67%

Total:60

This is a great way for friends who don't own a particular game yet, but want to try it out before purchasing their own copies.

Hmm... It depends on how many games have it cause will all games be able to do this or do u have to enable it in certain games? I also don't really like the whole, 1 hour limit but I guess it is "free"? (I am guessing you need ps+ for this but correct me if I am wrong)

Idk, I like steam's method better where u can share ur games with 10 different friends and they dont have any restriction on the time limit. The only restriction is that multiple people cant play the same game at the sametime (unless you go offline that is)

all games support options 1 and 2 without any developer involvement.  option 3 is supported only by games that have a local co-op mode.

shareplay = remoteplay except the screen is shared with another ps4 instead of a vita.

i also don't really like the 1 hour thing.  i wish, at least in the case of option 3, it would just allow us to play so long as both controllers are active.  i get that they don't want people to abuse option 2 but still...

So it streams the game to another ps4? So play together would only be for splitscreen and stay on the same screen games. Cool tech. Would be even more cool if they could include share play to stream ps4 games to ps3 :)

What? Are we reading the same stuff? what kinda restrictions are you talking about?

The most important things are these two points

  1. Visitor can play host games
  2. Host and vistor can play game together.
as long as it does that its more of an innovation than anything that has come before it for gamers. I can fully understand the hour restriction and starting again. can also understand why the visitor can't record or live stream a game he is playing on someone elses console from his own.
Lets give credit where credit is due. Imagine you have MK10 and your friend doesn't have it. You invie him, and he joins you to play your game. simple as that, what more can you ask for?

Being able to play for more than an hour, without having to start a new session.

Being able to record, stream, and use remote play.

Being able to play with more than 2 people, assuming the game allows for it.

Lol.... so in other words you don't want them to sell games anymore?

The things you have mentioned does not put it into gimmik category. Anyhoo... to each his own I guess.

its a restricted gimick.

yep.  i'm expecting LBP to get a huge boost due to shareplay.  once more gamers realize how amazing lbp is sales will go through the roof.  also i'm kidding.

So one person can watch you play a game you own or you can let them play it without you for a short time (just like lending them the game except you have to sit there with them?)? Games may have scenes that can't be shared?

I mean I guess it's good for letting distant people demo stuff you own if that's what you really need to do.

I'm going to be using this extensively when making levels with LBP3. Getting an experienced creator to help out would be a good use IMO.

It might be more stable than the regular online play :p

I tried remote playing on my laptop once via twitch live streaming. DS4 behind my laptop when the tv was in use. Was quite a challenge with 20 sec lag. It would be nice if it could stream the gameplay to any device not just vita.

It sounds like a good idea that will be restricted because Sony does not want the system abused. It will be interesting to see where Sony take shareplay but so far the options only make it sound OK.
