Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft says Watchdogs on Wii U will deliver the same experience as other platforms but with Wii U advantages

The team at Ubisoft Bucharest has been focused on recreating the same experience as other platforms but with Wii U advantages.

When Watch Dogs hits Wii U on November 18, the GamePad will be the major unique addition.

"Our focus was in re-creating the same experience as on the other platforms, while taking advantage of what the Wii U has to offer," Ubisoft Bucharest Producer Florin Sanda told us. The Wii U advantage is off-TV play and an interactive map. The latter is useful, according to Sanda, because in Watch Dogs, "exploration is key."

That wasn't the only idea they had, though. Sanda explained that the team prototyped and playtested many other Wii U ideas, but "some of them just didn't work." After many tries, they determined that the interactive map was the best option.

The Wii U version has been primarily developed by a team at Ubisoft Bucharest, and the six-month delay allowed the team to make sure the Wii U version stacked up to the other versions.

Most likely just a map on the Gamepad.

I was thinking something similar, I have great doubts that Ubi will have implemented anything nearly big enough to justify the wait, especially not with all the BS they've been spouting this year. Unfortunately; with the great success of two massive franchises now, they are in a position where they can afford to not care.

By the sound of it, they probably at least spent an afternoon thinking about motion controls for driving. Some one may have proposed hacking challenges on the gamepad much like in Deus Ex, but didn't have the time/people to do it.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

They still can't stop talking. Nothing will excuse the wait.

Nice try, Ubi. Still not interested.

Anyone else find it amusing that Ubisoft would contradict themselves in literally the same sentence? It'll be the same experience as found on the other consoles, except..... So then, it won't be the same experience? How do they not see this stuff before posting it lol.

Not that I care, I won't pick up Watch Dogs for another year or so, on Steam, during a sale.  But, I do hope the Wii U folks who pick it up enjoy it :)

They need to keep talking, if they don't the people will acuse them of sending the game to die and not creating (recovering) enough hype. Actually they are doomed no matter what they do, I will enjoy the game on my Wii U.

So... "Stack up to the other versions"... Does that mean compared to the PS4/One version, or the PS360 version? "Some of [the ideas for the GamePad] just didn't work"... What did then, or is the map the only thing? The screenshot, is that finally from the WiiU version, or is it just another generic one from the PC?

We didn't really get any wiser now did we .
