If those Xbox/PS fans weren't willing to buy at least a Nintendo handheld for their games then why would they be willing to pay full price for them on mobile phones? They would probably think the games are inferior to what they used to be (because mobile games usually are) regardless of reviews.
Also, the brand name argument isn't really true, EA, Square Enix, Capcom and probably others have released mobile games and they've had to rely on cheap or f2p games with microtransactions because the market just wouldn't support full priced games.
If they can buy the WHOLE game for that price then maybe they would be fine with it. But if that isn't the WHOLE game...

I think the retail price of 30$ is a sign that the game isn't inferior because it isn't free or cheap as other smart phone games. I'm thinking consumers will learn over time that Nintendo is going full out on smart devices.
As for third party games failing, its probably because of the controls and lack of advertisement. Touch screen only is terrible for games that require a lot of action or reflex. Again, Nintendo and Google only need to make an attractive add-on for tight controls. Even better, it will have Nintendo's name on it, making the add-on an official game controller people can trust.
If Nintendo is going all out on smart devices, they will definitely advertise their games and their high reviews on TV, online, Youtube, Twitch and etc. It will be featured prominently on the Android store as well.
Nintendo consoles used to be the box that plays Mario and the TV screen used to have high viewer ratings until the internet took over. Now smartphones and tablets and computers are the devices people are using constantly everyday and maybe the box that plays Mario.
edit: don't know I added computers there.
Also if people are wondering my stance on Nintendo going third party and etc. I still think Nintendo may be making consoles next gen. My ideas are what Nintendo will look like 10 years from.
