the internet is a free place, and this site free to have a policy of not letting nsfw content so that it can be open to more people in different situations.  That is their right no?

How exactly does a name quality for "NSFW" content ?

Because that swear word isn't everywhere the user goes.

It's why swear words aren't allowed in thread titles.

Even if Ilikegirls69 posts the most unoffensive post ever, the name "ilikegirls69" is still there.

I would say that derogatory language is more offensive than suggestive usernames ...

I don't think that argument really works for usernames though. I mean, swearing is allowed on this forum. Anybody can use any swear words they want (as long as they aren't directly insulting someone) so if posts like that are completely fine why can't a the username 'ilikegirls69' be fine? It's suggestive yes, but do you think someone would be more upset about that or a post with a swearword in every sentence (which is perfectly within the rules).

I can definitely see someone being more upset at that username then swear words.  That kind of crap has certain connotations, and for our underage users specifically it could mean the end of their time here. Parents are definitely more sensitive to any kind of sexual reference then swear words as far as internet activity goes.  At least in america that is how it is.

I know if i was underage and living at home still, my mom would freak if she saw me on a forum talking to someone with that username.  I dont think she would care much if she saw swear words, but definitely wouldnt like that name.  In fact, she would probably yell at me even now and I am a grown man!

I just did a quick search and found plenty of unbanned users with the words 'sex', 'bastard', 'cock', and 'bitch' in their usernames, granted some of them haven't logged in for a long time, but they are still there. Do you really think 'ilikegirls69' is worse than having any of those words in a username?

No, I dont think it is worse, but can you guess what I think should be done with the users who have names you just mentioned?

thats right, they should be banned, and probably would be banned now if they logged in and tried to comment.  I dont really understand why you and fatslob are fighting this issue.  You want this site to be nsfw?  I am sure there are some porn forums somewhere if that is what you are looking for...

lets have this site be free of nsfw content and focused on games please.  This is a video game forum, if you are interested in other stuff, find a more appropriate forum.

That's just strawman ...

It's something that will be clamped down on more from this point. Other users who are active with said names are being informed and given options, so it isn't an isolated case as you'd like to pretend it is.

Honestly this is a non-issue. We've outlined the reasoning and why it happens, if you disagree fine. We aren't asking you to agree, we're just asking you to understand why it's happened. As Gergroy said there's plenty of other sites who'd allow these names and such provakative avatars, if you wanted to look. But that's not going to fly here.

The problem here is that those reasons don't make much sense ...

I'm not fighting the issue because I want the site to be nsfw, I'm fighting it because I don't consider that particular username to be nsfw. But it seems the people that make the decisions think otherwise so...

I can guarantee you that they arent the only ones!

The avatar is something that could cause trouble and discomfort for people, depending on where they're viewing it.

That might not be a reason you understand or thinks "makes sense", but that's the reason. Quite clearly, we aren't going to agree on this point but that's the reason. Nothing else you say from this point will affect this.

This is so backwards to me. But i'm not surprised. This country is so scared of anything that has to do with sex or a human anatomy. Everybody is so scared of sex or being sexual. It's freaking dumb when you think about it. Japan has some of the most creative minds in the world. Education over there is good too. And you know what? Sex is not some taboo thing over there. You can be 10 years old and walk into a porn shop and buy whatever you want. They don't obsess over a womans breast or anything sexual in society. Can you imagine what a parent would think if they saw their son or daughter on the internet reading something that said ilovegirls69? Heh. oh my. I can assure you they would be more worried about their grades than some harmless name.

This country? Breast! A butt! Is that a Penis! Oh my god  half her cleavage is showing! What a whore! Run!

I still can't belive my account was banned because of my name.
