Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you use your console for other things than gaming?

I use my PS3 for Netflix and movies, rarely for WWE Network. The occasional Blu-Ray here and there. I used it as a music player a long time ago.

Around the Network

I rarely ever use my consoles for anything other than gaming.

yeah, they make good paperweights

Before getting a smart TV, I used Xbox 360 for Netflix all the time. Now I use it as a DVD player. For blu-rays, I use the PS3. Finally, I use the WiiU as a web browser once and a while, usually to watch Nintendo Directs.

I use my Wii U for Netflix and browsing when I'm too lazy to go to my desktop, and my OUYA has the best weather forecast app

Around the Network

For now, I only use my PS4 for games and netflix. Would use it for my movies if it had external HDD support and a media player app. I tend to prefer having as few things in my living room as possible and ith the kinda setup I have i would prefer doing all the media related stuff on one box. BUt as it stands I have a HTPC with over 8TB of storage hooked up to it exclusively for my media content. So if the PS4 had an app like Kodi (XBMC) or Plex I would ditch the HTPC.

As for browsing, I don't think anyone has actually made a browser for TVs that is worth using so i much prefer doing that on my surface tablet.

Yeah, mostly YouTube, Netflix and Huluplus. I am hoping, with W10, to see more app-like games, having office on there as well as emulators.

I watched the Alan Wake's Bright Falls series once on my 360.

I use my 3DS to catch up on the Nintendo Directs other than downloading and playing games.

It's just too slow to browse Miiverse...
