PS4 seems a bit low. I agree that it looks under tracked.

Between the 7 million announcement and the GamesCom announcement, only 3 months had passed. Why should we be more confident in the numbers today than 3 months ago. Are you suggesting that VGChartz methodology has improved? |
im just suggesting, that the great ps4 start in tier 2/3 countries slowed down.
so ps4 ist still selling more than 50% of its units in countries, that are not us, uk and japan. that seems reasonable for launch. but for the whole time of the gen?
last gen ps3 sold 50% in us+uk and japan but was very weak in the us and uk
this gen ps4 sold less than 50% in us+uk+japan, while being the #1 console in that countries
thats my point. hard to belive
This should be in the "latest charts" section. It's in a different section every week and makes it annoying to find.

I'd say the PS4 is around 11.4 - 11.5 by now, and 178k seems very low following the huge Destiny week, especially when you consider how the Destiny bundle has still been doing very well in the Amazon charts. I expected around 250k this week for the PS4 + the undertracking of the PS4 seems to have continued and we're still missing around 200k from the last big adjustment.
The PS5 Exists.

It was also said that the adjustments couldn't be tacked on to any region they wanted and they had to ascertain where those missing PS4s had been sold. In the end I think they added them to each region averaged out... Also didn't Sony just announce at TGS that the PS4 was their fastest selling console in the Asian market? Could be where sales are not accurate . |
Nope they didnt there still completly missing on VGC.

You may be right, but there is no way to know that for sure. I think it is a valid theory. I would suggest that if it was difficult to tract the sales from May to July, it may become even more difficult as sales pick up. There were two blockbusters this month alone. I read some info on the page that takes about the methodology in certain regions. Did you know that Chartz uses PS3 and PS2 data to extrapolate what PS4 sales are in many regions. I think we will continue to see major deviations in projections vs actual sales until a more proficient survey method is found. I think your point is valid, but I think it is appropiate to doubt. I think complaints of undertracking will disappear as the methodology is improved, but we wont know until Sony's next announcment.
@Xenostar
Really? If they can't track properly outside holiday season, we're going to see severe undertracking come Jan '15. Seems that they rely on shipment updates from Sony to keep up, but even then it's not entirely accurate .
Thread has been moved into the Latest Charts section.
Overall a pretty good week. Wii U went up, not massive drops for the X1 and PS4, so it's all good.
