Fatal Frame V........ :/

Makes the western localisation even more unpredictable.

Fatal Frame 2:Wii Edition sold ~100k in Japan while Fatal Frame IV sold ~80k. In total. These are the two best selling games in the series over there, meaning that this game was unlikely to set the charts on fire.

I wonder what it is about the Japanese that makes them love portables more than console games.

Well, there goes the theory of "Bayo 2 only had two days of sales, a whole week might show some really good legs for this title!" And then we'll probably have the exact same discussion in US and Europe when it launches in those territories.

I still believe Danganronpa will be 2nd this week, otherwise Legend of Heroes Sen no Kiseki sales were realy big during the first week, or YW2 did better than last week

Sen no Kiseki on Vita opened at 85k.  I wouldn't hold out much hope of DanganRonpa beating that.

It's a big, front-loaded JRPG series.  I'd expect it to easily beat DR:AE.

(And if we include the PS3 version, which we should, then yeah :P)

I have seen that argument many times on VGChartz but I can't remember even one single time where that has been the case. Sales are down by quite a lot for the following whole week, no matter if the game only was available for one or two days the week before.

Anyway, I hope DanganRonpa sold really, really well. I love that series.

I also hope Legend of Heroes sold well, because I love Falcom.

Fatal Frame is... not impressive, but judging by how things went last week I'd imagine it can still open pretty high despite its placement.

Dungeon Travellers 2 not so hot, but it is a port. Cross Thesis Paradox is the real bomba this week... NIS really need to sort this out really, they've having a fair few of these. Guided Fate didn't do great; Zillions of Enemy X didn't do great; Battle Princess of Arcadia didn't do great. I think it's probably time for them to move on from PS3 once and for all.

Exactly; it is perfectly common that games release on thursday or friday, usually yielding 3-4 days of sales and the initial shipments cover pre-orders, which is basically pent-up and completely predictable demand so 2,3, 4 or even 7 days won't make a huge difference in most cases. Frontloaded launches, pre-ordering and day one purchases are a lot more common now than even ten years ago.

Just hang on though; like I said, this discussion will gain wind in the sails once more when Bayonetta 2 releases in other territories.

Yeah it makes me sad, looks like all NIS have going for them is Disgaea and surely they can't live off of that one franchise. They really need to find another hit, either that or make sure they make enough of these small titles each year and have them all profit.
