I see the nerdiness in this thread is still going strong!

This isn't hard people. SSB wins in a number of ways.

For the Zelda characters:

Utter, rules free invincibility:

Link: If we're giving Ratchet all his stuff, Link gets all of his stuff too. That means Chateau Romani (infinite magic)+Nayru's Love (rules free invincibility)=infinite invincibility.

Zelda: If Link can have it, so can Zelda. She has Nayru's Love after all.

Ganondorf: Is virtually unkillable. Usually is only sealed away by large groups of people that know sealing magic. Otherwise can only be killed by a Triforce of Courage wielder using the Master Sword.

Ridiculous attack power:

Link: Can use the Fierce Deity Mask which makes killing gods as easy as beating a toddler in a fight. With infinite magic, he could use his medallions, various magic arrows, various magic wands, turn invisible and intangible (magic cape), and other things. Not that attack matters all that much since he's permanently invincible.

Zelda: Again, permanantly invincible, but infinite magic would certainly also help a magic user's attack.

Ganondorf: No reason he couldn't bring some Chateau Romani to the fight. Infinite magic, with as powerful as his magic is, would be ridiculous. Again, doesn't matter, only Link can kill him, everyone else can only seal him away, if they have a large enough group of people with the right knowledge of sealing magic.

Instant win capabilities: If all three come together, they can form the Triforce and wish for victory.

For Mario characters:

Rules free invincibility, instant win ability:

All characters can carry a stash of invincibility stars (as NSMB shows), which give rules free invincibility and a touch-them-to-make-them-die effect.

For Samus:

Rules free invincibility, ridiculous attack power:

Screw attack gives her unlimited rules free invincibility, and basically destroys anything breathing it touches, and a lot of non-breathing things as well.

Power bombs are basically a mini-nuke. In Other M, she has an infinite number of them. Not that she needs these, mind you, considering the screw attack is a sci-fi Mario invincibility star that can be activated at will.

For Kirby:

Should be self-explanatory. In his games, when he swallows people, they just die. Smash revokes this to make it an interesting fight, but we're just using Smash characters, not Smash rules. His latest game has him swallowing things vastly larger than himself. Swallowing the PSAS gang would give Kirby their powers. In Smash, they get one power, but in the Kirby games, Kirby gets a variety of moves when he swallows the more complex enemies like Knuckle Joe or the ninja. As such, Kirby could swallow anyone, but swallow Ratchet, Kratos, or Sack Boy, and he'd be unstoppable, or at least as unstoppable as the person he swallowed. They'd probably all be dead from all the instant win abilities of the other characters before Kirby could get to them, but the point stands.

For Yoshi:

Eats things ridiculously larger than himself, turns them into eggs for ammo. They die instantly. Smash revokes this property, but again, we're drawing from the character's universes here, where Yoshi kills things when he eats them.

For Pacman:

Eats a Power Pellet, and his enemies become edible. Instant win.

And a number of other broken characters, but I think I've said enough. So many people with infinite, rules free invincibility, and several of those instantly kill people when they touch them. This isn't even a fight worth considering.

So Melee beat PSAS, so you're giving them a larger roster? That just makes it an even bigger landslide!

When did that happen?

When the author of the thread decided it to be so, and changed the roster.

When did the bolded happen?

When the author of the thread decided it to be so. The comment was made in reference to her decision to change the roster because she though Melee was a landslide victory.

I don't think you quite understand. She said "Since this is such a stomp as people are saying, Smash Bros will need numbers. SSB 4 roster it is!" Emphasize the 'need' part. As in Smash bros needs more help because they couldn't win with meele roster.

Only that it doesn't work that way. If I made a thread asking who's the more powerful character between Link and Mario with some people saying Link and some others Mario and I, the OP, decided that it was Mario, it still wouldn't Mario the character the stronger one. It would be my opinion and nothing more.

If the thread was "convince me /help me decide which console to buy" and then people convinced me to buy a 3ds over a vita, then that would a victory, because the point would be the OP's decision. With this thread, there cannot be a clear winner, especially when all Ninty fans do is praise all the ninty characters while ignoring the abilities of Sony characters and vice versa. The bias is beyond obvious from both sides and so is ignorance (mine included). It's highly unlikely that someone has played as all the characters from each roster to form a well-balanced opinion.

Also just because more Ninty fans have posted here, it doesn't mean smash won.

Lastly, I disagree with the whole theory of let's use the most amazing ability that one character once used and ignore their avergae skills. The way I see sackboy (from LBP), he'd be useless in most fights, yet he has one ability that can destroy everyone instantly. I don't think it's fair to consider that ability as standard in a fight. Same with pikachu. Would I substitute Kratos with Pikachu and feel that I can beat everyone in a god of war game? Would I feel safer or more in danger using Dante in a zelda game over link?

Huh, not sure why she said that then. It was a stomp for Melee. And besides, she herself said everyone was down except Ratchet. A misguided view, but still, not a stomp. Regardless, Smash Bros. has over half a dozen characters with rules free invincibility that makes them kill everything they touch (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Rosalina, Samus, Sonic), and the Zelda characters either are invincible, in the case of Ganondorf, or can be, as is the case of Link and Zelda with infinite magic and Nayru's Love. The Zelda characters together have the whole Triforce and can just wish for victory. Then you have characters that one-hit-kill people but aren't invincible like Kirby, Yoshi, or Pacman, and now we have Shulk, who can rewrite the universe by the end of his game.

The Triforce is strong with you...

I agree it was an easy win even for the Melee characters but this post has taken too much of my time so I refuse to explain myself any further. Let the naysayers believe what they want...

Everyone seems to be overlooking Ness. That dude can wreck shit with PSI Rockin. :)

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

Your sackboy argument was probably the best the PSAS side had to offer actually, but it takes time to charge up, and all SSB would have to do to win is have the Mario cast each equip a Starman and charge at them. It's not that Nintendo characters are "better" or even better fighters, it's that Nintendo makes them broken, and Sony usually doesn't. I actually like Sony characters a lot. I wanted a Playstation Smash Bros. the moment I knew what Smash Bros. was. Doesn't change the fact that Nintendo just gave all their characters easily accessible insta-win abilities. There's a reason people are complaining that their games are too easy nowadays.

The reason I brought up sackboy was to show how overpowered some abilities can be that are in no way an indication of a character's average abilities. And by that I mean the abilities he or she has for the majority of time. When I played Kirby games, I didn't feel like I could just stand there, suck everyting and win every level. I had to dodge, I could easily get hurt; there was a struggle and no feeling of being overpowered. That's the real power of Kirby for me. So the way I see  it, Sackboy is by far the easiest character to beat. Useless as a magicarp.
