Two reasons: Nintendo sucks at release scheduling. And getting the games to work 100% requires work. GC games are so unbelievably a pain in the ass to work on emulation.

It wouldn't be nearly as difficult on Nintendo's hardware since the WIi U uses components that are upgrades of the CG ones. Or if you prefer, they're the same family of hardware components. Unlike what you use on PC to emulate the GC.

Isn't the WiiU's Wii mode a carbon copy of the Wii? I always thought the lack of Gamecube compatibility was because the WiiU can't read GC's mini discs.

It's probably also the way they have to make their rom files too. Dealing with games that are two discs. The swaping system needs to be in place. Those little things. Also maybe since Wii Mode doesn't fully work in Wii U mode causes problems. It be dumb we'd have to go into Wii game mode to run GC VC games.

Nintendont and Devolution can play GC games with any control even ps3 and ps4 controls, so that made me think that Nintendo is been lazy about that.

They managed to do a fantastic HD remaster of the Wind waker, with refined gameplay elements and gamepad support in 6 months. A HD Gamecube collection on VC would print money, imagine Metroid Prime trilogy, Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario, Wave Race etc Nintendo fans inc myself would lap it up.

It's funny that I read in GBAtemp that GC games can be played in Wii mode on the Wii U via Homebrew Channel.

Basically, it's not hard in Wii mode, because it's a physical limitation, they would just need to emulate a disk drive, like hackers do. But in Wii U mode there is need of actual programming, that they don't will be willing to do.

The solution would be to release the freakin games to be played in Wii mode.

Yeah, that is the easy way out. But you know Nintendo will want to avoid this. Cause of hacks with Wii mode and other junk. Plus, people will bitch I gotta use the Wii remote to load up a f-ing gc game. Which they got a lot of hate on Wii.

I completely agree with you!

What if GC games ran off their own back end? Something like a tiny Wii mode wrapper that is launched from the WiiU menu and directly loads the game? Possible or not possible?

The more i think about it, the more i think its a business decision.

First: we know for sure how well VC games sells? One thing that you have to understand is that every game need to be tested in a way that work both on tv and on gamepad, as well be able to put picture on miiverse at any given time. Of course there is some work on trailers for the re-releases, so some money go to editing and marketing stuff too. In the end, nintendo release a game that everyone call too expensive.

If in the wii, it looked like they were not getting the most of it, imagine on wiiu? Why bother? Will not move units. Will not sell amanzily well. Will not have a lot of support from 3rds. Its really a card?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

I don't know, but it sucks. Does anybody know why there are no SNES games on 3DS VC? That shit is bonkers to me.
