Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bungie responds to Miyamoto

You see what's funny about this is Miyamota has the background and respect in this industry to really say anything he wants. If he said he could have made Halo then there is a god damn good chance he could have made it and easy. Bungie on the other hand doesn't have any grounds to even be responding to this in this way. They have no where as near the background or respect he does and what they should have said is oh my god we got mentioned by the great Miyamota. I'm just going to sit here and glorify the moment. That's what they should have done instead of this comment. But I guess some humor is alright.

Wow now. Bungie deserves more respect than that. Myth 1 and 2 are still two of the best RTS's around. And Halo 1 & 2 were great games. Just because they probably didn't deserve such  a stupifyingly large amount of sales doesn't mean they aren't still great.  And there was nothing wrong with their comment. Unlike people around here, they clearly saw his comments for what they really were; innocent and in no way offputing to Halo, and instead geared answered in a tounge and cheek fashion to the hordes of silly internetters who took it way to seriously.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

So what you're trying to say is...you're a 360 fanboy!  Well I agree!  Miyamoto clearly meant to dis Halo and he failed!!  I'm glad Bungie put him in his place...they sure told him!!

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Pretty much. Basically what I thought Miyamota was doing was simply saying that if he wanted to he could have made a game like Halo. Personally I thought many people took it way too far in him showing Bungie up. Now when it comes to that let's get it straight. If Miyamota wants to show someone up well he damn well can. I mean really there are some people in this industry that have bragging rights and somehow I think he's one of them. But if ya really just take it how it's written he's just saying that he could have created a game like that but it's not his style. He's not trying to make something that's popular at the time but things taht are new that will become popular. And then Bungie's remarks I thought were a little out of place. I mean that's where I came in saying Bungie just doesn't have that same respect as Miyamota does. I mean Bungie isn't a Miyamota or a Kojima or a whoever. But I am glad that Bungie has a sense of humor into take that lightly and not freak out like most Halo fans did. They simply went with it, if it was thought to be a shot, and came right back which in an unproffesional way was the most proffesional way to do it. The only thing I was trying to say is people are trying to act like Bungie has this same respect or whatnot as Miyamota does and it's really not just the same. Something I'm just tired of seeing people do. People like Miyamota and Kojima and Shinji Mikami are on entirely different leves than Bungie and people need to understand that. Bungie is a good developer. I'm not trying to say there not. I'm just trying to put all these Bungie fanatics in the real light here. Bungie probably apsolutely loves this dude and is cool enough to joke around with him. Stop acting like they are the big shots that just can say anything to anyone cause they ain't.

I'm amused how everyone here only thinks Miyamoto invented Mario, lol. Metroid anyone? Zelda? Starfox? Earthbound? etc. etc. Sorry Muder and Death hadn't been the norm by that time but I'm pretty confident he could handle a simple FPS like Halo 3.

Zelda? I remember games as early back as 1983 that were action rpgs... Starfox.. Wasn't that the first shooter ever? No wait it wasn't.. The first to use polygons right? Umm no... Earthbound, the first rpg ever! Wait no it wasn't and didn't bring anything new to the table that wasn't seen before... But wait you said Miyamoto does the best in every field, why isn't Earthbound the best rpg ever? Why isn't Starfox the best shooter ever created? Hmm...

Dont stop there, why isnt Halo the best FPS ever? Ohsnap? Seriously I can likely find games in all genres I consider to be better on PC than their console counterparts except for platformers. Consoles seem to have that locked down. Metroid Halo all of these RPG's and puzzle games on consoles. Ive seen better on PC by far in most areas. Thats what took me so long to get into Halo in the first place, and while Ill probably never be a Halo "lover" like some people are. When you have played FPS like that on PC's before, online isnt new to you, driving vehicles in combat isnt new to you, massive maps arent new to you, voicechat isnt new, diverse weapon selection isnt new. So you just feel like your playing something smaller in scale with a much worse control form (KB&M > all, even the wiimote+nunchuck sorry its just true)

But after you seperate the PC and Consoles I was able to see that Halo is a great game for what it is, a cosole FPS. Same way Golden Eye was. I remember people used to ream GE back then vs PC games too lol.

One final question: last week, Shigeru Miyamoto said in an interview with Geoff Keighley in Entertainment Weekly that he could make Halo.

Yeah, well. I just want to go on the record and say that Bungie is hard at work on a side-scrolling platform game featuring some plumbers -- I'm not going to say what their ethnicity is, it's none of anyone's business -- but we took that as a gauntlet, a sort of glove slap, and we're going to respond in 2D scrolling style. That's all I'm saying.

LOL. I would laugh so hard if they put something into Halo 3 that ripped on Mario. Do you guys and gals think anything will come of this or is this just a bluff?

 guys for sure...

do you really think that miyamoto has no skill to make a game like halo???

in game design view halo is a poor game...

halo 3 will confirm...

but it would be the only thing decent on x360 this year...

microsoft in the end is copying sony:

fps, driving "simulators", recently tried to buy some j-rpg...

halo is a good game only in america...

I have a console  made by americans

+

I have the only decent fps on this system

+

americans love shooting(in games,in real life,ect)

 =

too easy!!!

infact when we compare it with pc fps games roughly could be considered in the top ten...

still waiting for halo 3...to make some laughs.
