What did he say?  He isnt that popular anyway so I doubt he has done much harm.  I dont mind him to be honest.  I think its hilarious when Sctoland are shit at sport so why shouldnt he be allowed to think the same about England?

It's weird, when someone sees him not do well, they say 'Well he's Scottish.' then when he does well, 'He's British', which is backwards anyway. As someone who represents GBR in everything he is in, he should remain impartial as he also live outside Scotland and had no vote, however:

Hmm, pie.

Could Schotland even sustain itself if it went independant? I don't know anything about the economy.. or would Europe have to spring in like Spain, Greece etc

There were too many unknowns truely. It could because of potential oil money, if invested correctly but there are many things that may also have to occur, taxes may go up, cuts made or current policies dropped. But with no official currency, some of their main banks being in UK government hands due to bail outs (so they'd split ownership but still) and taking on 8-10% of the UK national debt, again too many unknowns.

Hmm, pie.

No they couldnt and Europe would have turned its back for sure.  They cant afford another dog economy to join.

The UK spends at least £1600 per annum more on every individual Scot than it does on the English.  It is subsidised heavily.

The tax per person is Scotland is higher than the tax per person across the rest of the UK. That's not Scotland being subsidised.

Scotland is running a budget deficit, but so is England, so is Wales and so is Northern Ireland.

For 4 out of the last 5 years, Scotland has had a lower budget deficit than the average across the UK.

Not surprised as common sense which sadly isn't so common would have alarm bells ringing, Salmond was basically building an entire stance on people disliking the Tories and Nationalism while not actually giving any idea of how Scotland will deal with other pressing issues like the infrastruture if yes was voted.

All the Banks were going to relocate into England, all the money they hold would be relocated as well, a number of businesses would have relocated as well, the oil companies were stating that the oil belongs to the company and not any government and that they shouldn't bank on solely relying on it, any business done from Scotland would now face a number of taxes, Scots would be subject to immigration laws and it doesn't help that a lot of the higher education venues are located in England etc...

Too many unknowns.

This whole situation reminds me of Catalonia and Basque Country fighting to be independent from Spain. No voting on the matter yet, though.

To be honest here, I actually thought Scotland would push not to stay in the United Kingdom. I was wrong.

This outcome officially makes Braveheart the stupidest and most pointless movie ever made.

Well, that was anti-climactic, but its good for them i suppose.

Hmm... a bit of different case since i believe those kingdoms were subdued by force. I think the will to be separated might be stronger there, especially with a relatively recent civil war. I wonder how the vote would go.

What happened to the weird referendum that Spain didn't agree too, is it still happening/did it happen?

Don't know about Basque Country, but Catalonia wants to keep on going with the independence regardless of the referendum.
