No they couldnt and Europe would have turned its back for sure.  They cant afford another dog economy to join.

The UK spends at least £1600 per annum more on every individual Scot than it does on the English.  It is subsidised heavily.


The tax per person is Scotland is higher than the tax per person across the rest of the UK. That's not Scotland being subsidised.

Scotland is running a budget deficit, but so is England, so is Wales and so is Northern Ireland.

 

For 4 out of the last 5 years, Scotland has had a lower budget deficit than the average across the UK.
