Marketing!!!

The 500 million was meant for 10 years (it has to live that long and will always be expanded with new regions/cities.....So no destiny 2 but expansions like WOW)

...Why is this so hard to understand? The 500m includes marketing, and the next years of DLC and work on the franchise

Came to say this. These people who made the article dont understand anything. I think this is modern "gaming journalism".

Most overhyped game of all time. Well played Bungie!!!!!!!!!!

What a terrible video. Just made to bitch and get views.

Destiny isn't even an MMO and It didn't cost $500 mil to develop.

Bungie calls Destiny a shared-world shooter.

"Parsons told the site, “For marketing you’d have to ask Activision people, but for development costs, not anything close to $500 million. I think that speaks a lot more to the long-term investment that we’re making in the future of the product."

"On my business card I am a corporate president. In my mind I am a game developer. But in my heart I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata

Have you heard of Hollywood accounting?

It's probable that a minute percentage of money was spent on the actual development of Destiny. Advertising, legal, executive salaries probably sucked down cash like nobody's business.

It's one of those games I'm somewhat conflicted on. The art direction is cool, but it's really just a kind of barren FPS with not much interaction with the environment. Destruction is nearly nonexistent, and the tech is honestly pretty terrible.

Pros : good gunplay, lots of gear/loot, good art, vehicles

Negatives : bad tech, not much variety or deep game mechanics, did I say bad tech? Honestly the 360 version is 95% as good as the PS4/XB1 versions, and that's just sad. The 30fps is extra insulting considering the last-gen graphics.

I can't wait for a real next-gen FPS to show everyone how it's done. Hopefully by fall 2015 I guess. But even COD:AW looks waaaaaaaaaay better on a tech level than Destiny.

Don't for get what they paid Paul McCarthy.

Where did you find this guy? How do people find videos of youtube nobodies over the ones with thousands to millions of subscribers?

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
