Forums - General Discussion - have you ever been arrested?

Twice, guess for what ;) I don't like to bragg, but I do like to talk about it. I have been arrested twice for selling/distributing marijuana. While I agree what I did was against the law both times, I do not believe it was wrong. I support the legalization of recreational use of marijuana. sorry if that sounded weird, but i like to make it clear that I support the full legalization of marijuana (with age/driving restrictions), not just legalization for medical use. But back on topic, both times were kind of similar, I was only in for a night both times, it wasn't too bad, but i was in county not prison. but the weird part was that to everybody (starting with the arresting officer all the way through to the judge who sentenced me) it seemed like a joke, for me it was not, it has had profound effect on my life. None of them took it too seriously, or seemed like they care. But it was nothing like i thought it would be.

I have been arrested a few times and been to jail.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

I was arrested once, for being a minor in possession of alcohol. It's not on my record. I did my time! (4 hours in the big house, 20 hours community service, and 2 AA meetings.) What really pisses me off is that AA is a fucking religious institution that wants me to believe that Jesus is the only thing that can get me off booze. I don't see how the government can make me go to AA when there are easily non-religious groups out there trying to get people out of addictions. Not to mention that I was 18 and um, not addicted to anything, and sober when they caught me stuffing the booze into my backpack. I didn't even get to walk home and drink it all.

Here's the fun part of the story. They charged me with being a minor in possession of alcohol, which was the community service, AA, etc., AND they charged me with forging a government document, which could've been thousands of dollars and years in jail. I just borrowed a friend's ID. It was real. It was expired. Not forged at all. They gave me a month to find a lawyer. Too expensive. I came back without one. I filled out all this paperwork that said I was representing myself in court. Then when I was about to go up to the stand after waiting for hours, the public prosecutor dude tries to make a bargain with me! They pull me to the side, and tell me they've gone over their data, and they're willing to drop the forging a government document charge if I'm willing to plead guilty to the minor in possession of alcohol charge. I accepted, filled out some more papework, and got me a nice little volunteer job at a needle exchange passing out needles to junkies in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Haven't been arrested in the 7 years since, but I did get a speeding ticket for going 102 about 2 years ago, and the cop handcuffed me while he did my background czech because he thought the only reason I'd be driving that fast was if I was trying to make some daring escape. Then he realized I had a flawless record, uncuffed me, gave me some long speech about how he was just about to call a helicopter or set up some road blocks or some other crap, and then he let me go home. $400 fine, and my insurance went up the roof. Luckily for me, my car died a few months later and I stopped paying for insurance and let my license expire and became a bus and train type of guy. Saving lots of money.

Nearly, about 6 months ago I had to run away from the police because me and my mates from uni saw these guys were beating up this girl on a night out so we thought we would chase them off, but they just wanted to fight so we got nto a bit of a scrap, then the police turned up so we ran off.

Oh and I nearly got done for arson once, but I was innocent, me and my mates were having a party under a bridge when the local pubs bins were set on fire, the cops instantly thought it would be the 16 year olds under bridge, but we didn't do it.

@the ghost of rubangb

Apparently drunken disorder is a crime...

Almost. Luckily I was young enough to have them pull, we are calling your parents to come get you. It was for vandalism by the way. Good ol' days of vandalism...

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Ehh Ive had about 8 really bad run-ins with the cops. Once I get caught, I know how to talk myself out of it though. Here is my list:
-Trespassing on state grounds after hours (cops chased me and my girl down at 2 am in the woods)
-Wearing a mask in a shopping mall and then running from the cops
-Shooting BB guns across a lake (which were bouncing off the water and hitting houses). I ran from this guy too.
-Escorted out of the mall for harassing a women in the girls restroom and blocking the entrance (the women was a good friend of mine. We were playing around).
-Kicked out of an anime convention and sent to the local PD for underage drinking (xD)
-Running on the field during a football game (escorted out)
-Stealing city property (A dumb sign at the beach)
-Vandalism (spray painting stop signs)

Im sure there are more. Its late. I cant remember the rest. Luckily none of these were too major.
