Forums - Sales Discussion - Will XB1 And WiiU Sales Be Similar To Each Other For The Remaining Year?

How Will The Sales Of These Two Be For The Next Four Months?

Xb1 way ahead 34 18.89%

Pretty close to each other within 500k-1M 74 41.11%

WiiU way ahead 71 39.44%

Total:179

Ive been reading alot of post lately things like PS4 getting to 50% market share and XB1 passing the WiiU this year but what i havent been reading is how or when will the XB1 pass the WiiU.  As things are now the WiiU has been outselling the XB1 WW week in and week out since May 31 give or take a week or two for the XB1 now this is shocking considering the XB1 got a price cut down to $399 which many believe was the reason why it hasnt been selling.  Obviuosly it was not since it did little to nothing to its sales even in its home land US.

Now prior to its price cut many felt that it would help the XB1 tremendously even stating that it would blow pass the WiiU total WW sales before or when the summer ends.  Many annalist spoke confidently that the XB1 coul make a big turn around once it came down price, we are now in almost a similar situation the XB1 will release in more countries soon and big 3rd party games will also be releasing for aswell as 1st party games.  If these things dont do much to help its sales it will be very easy for these anlysist to further push the date when XB1 will pass the WiiU now we are in unknown territory only the elite  sale annalist can be sure if XB1 sales will get a major boost in the next 4 months

So far sales for the two are fairly close for the year with WiiU trailing the XB1s global 2014 sales by 300K despite the XB1 having one of the most anticipated games release in the spring TF and dropping down to $399.  Recent sales trends show that the XB1 isnt fairing well in regions outside of US and japan will add next to nothing to its weekly sales.  The WiiU does have some heavy hitting exclusive games releasing in the next four months like Smash, Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors.  Many propose that the Xb1 wont get any meaningful boost from the remaining countries it will release in later this year and that most will be purchasing the big 3rd party games for the PS4 or last gen HW will these things be enough to keep the WiiU close or ahead of XB1 weekly sales for the remaining year?

such a great thread!!!xbone should win a week or weeks because of destiny, but if happens what happened with watchdogs, xbone will never pass wii u weekly in 2014!(this will be a bad sign for xbone lt sales if happens)!plus that  the strulling wii u of 2013 was close to the newly xbone on holidays;)

I think 1.5m- 2m range but Wii U just staying alive. This year, expect X1 to pass the Wii U WW for about 2-3 weeks after Destiny, and after Fifa(for EU not Global total though I think) and Cod. But Smash comes out and maybe not even that Halo Collection will make X1 sell more than the actual Wii U Weekly and launch week of smash sales.

But 2015 will be the epic duel lol.

No, they will not.

Destiny, Call of Duty, Ass Unity, Alien, WWE, NBA/NHL/NFL, GTAV, TheCRew, Fhroizen2, Sunset, HaloMCC, Dragons age, Farcry, ProjectCars, Spark and so on.

That's how X1 will out sale the wiiu.

Let me just quickly guess the outcome of the poll, hmm... yup "Wii U way ahead" should win this poll.

In my opinion, they will be in each others proximity in the next couple months but the X1 will be ahead.

This is the kind of thing that cannot be prooven in discusions, cuz both sides have good arguments. I for one lean to the wii u winning, but I know I could be wrong.

The main reason for me is that, PS4 will eat all of the X1's sales as it has done all year. Wii u, is not in direct competitioon with its games and a few very good ones are coming out so it should do well this holiday.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Nah, XB1 will be way ahead in the US and slightly ahead in Europe. Japan will not give WiiU a big enough edge.

Wii U has very little software being released in September. Will be slightly up due to getting closer to holidays. Xbox One is launching in 29 different countries in September, and has major releases all throughout the month.

Wii U in October has more releases compared to September, sure, but Xbox One still has more 3rd party software and the effects of the 29 countries, and the White SKU + Sunset Overdrive.

November is where Halo and Call of Duty is, so clearly Xbox One got that in the bag.

December will be Xbox month (compared to Wii U).

Once Xbox One gets released in the other countries, the baseline will be higher than the Wii U, and even while being in only 13 countries, Xbox One is still around Wii U sales. Xbox One will be way ahead starting Week ending September 13.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

A lot more software is releasing and more countries are released this month it should see the X1 baseline move to be considerably higher than Wii U. With the constant high profile software releases for the rest of the year and I think it won't even be a close contest.

Xone Beating Wii U? By the end of 2014? Nope, don't see that happening.
